Furthermore, here you will see: the significant New Town Hall, the majestic Old Community Hall, the Virgin's Column and the Fish Fountain.

Because the national socialists or Nazi party did not have a majority at that time.The authorities were frightened of the growing influence of Hitler and his national socialist ideals and so they moved to quash the movement and sent Adolf Hitler to prison where he wrote his book Mein Kampf

Because the mass of the people did not support it and he thought that with Ludendorff at the head of the procession the authorities would not dare to use violence.
14 people were shot dead.
He was wrong and got a five year sentence but only served a few months.
Ludendorff was not punished

The Weimar government shot the **** out of it (several with Hitler were killed). Hitler later had a monument built to the fallen -- after he got into power.
