I say it's in Winchester, England's old Capital. But everyone thinks it's in Cornwall or something like that...

So where is it?

I see in the world
people with wealth
who, from delusion,
don't make a gift
of the treasure they've gained.
Greedy, they stash it away,
hoping for even more
sensual pleasures.

A king who, by force,
has conquered the world
and rules over the earth
to the edge of the sea,
dissatisfied with the ocean's near shore,
longs for the ocean's
far shore as well.

Kings & others
— plenty of people —
go to death with craving
unabated. Unsated,
they leave the body behind,
having not had enough
of the world's sensual pleasures.

One's relatives weep
& pull out their hair.
'Oh woe, our loved one is dead,' they cry.
Carrying him off,
wrapped in a piece of cloth,
they place him
on a pyre,
then set him on fire.

So he burns, poked with sticks,
in just one piece of cloth,
leaving all his possessions behind.
They are not shelters for one who has died —
not relatives,
friends,
or companions.

His heirs take over his wealth,
while the being goes on,
in line with his kamma.
No wealth at all

what is the meaning of life,
what do YOU think it is?
I think it is to prosper, and live good with out hurting others and to reproduce and eat well.

I have to perform a scene as a final exam for my acting class this semester. I have to perform with a partner. My partner and I are both females, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good scene to perform. It must NOT contain any sexual activity OR Profanity AT ALL! My instructor suggests the playwright Sam Shepherd. Any suggestions?

When I was young, my mom used to read me this book about a tall skinny man that had dark hair. He had these itchy red pajamas and i think they had a hole in the knee or elbow. I think the story may have been about how his day was going all wrong or something, but I'm not sure. The only thing i remember is his pajamas!!! It was a little golden book. If any one could tell me the name of this book, I would really appreciate it. I would like to read it to my kids! Thanks

so far i can only think of two:

1. good leadership/ operational planning (successes: Battle of Stalingrad & Operation Cobra)

2. The air war over europe which destroy the german airforce and the petroleum industry, also the french railways which cut the German supply transportation

i need a third one for my history class though, any ideas?

It occured to me recently that one of the most important things we get in life is our memories, good and bad. when everything is said and done, all we can do is look back at what we accomplished in our lives. (it really is a shame to get alzheimer's)

My question is, What's the point of living if you already know your aren't going to have any memories you want to or can remember?

The best of my memories, my childhood, are just fragmented blurs. im not even sure if they actually happened of if I made them up

A boy in South Africa once dreamt of equality...he grew up to be Nelson Mandela

A man in India once couldnt handle the injustices of the Birtish invaders anymore...he turned out to be Gandhi

there are many more examples. I have a dream. It sounds almost impossible. Can I achieve it? Did these peoples dreams not sound impossible?
