I would argue that it is life's experiences, not its memories that make life worth living. Memories just allow you to replay past experiences. But as long as you're living, you can always create new ones!

Memories are precious. What is the one irreplaceable thing that people miss most when lost in a fire? Photographs. Because you can never get those moments back.
This doesn't mean you should just live in the past. Don't tell yourself that childhood was the best & long for that. Make new memories every day. Make the most of each day. Appreciate the beauty of the world. Love yourself, others & the world and know that those moments of happiness are more valuable than anything. When you pass away, you lose all the material possessions you may have gathered but memories (of laughter, love, happiness) are what you keep.

maybe you should start do get out there a bit more, join a club or start a sport where you can meet new people. This way you can make new memories, and while doin all this buy a video camera and record your life as it is on tape, so unless you missplace the tape, you can just watch your life, like it was a movie. It may feel weird, but if it does also keep a private journal and it will be like your telling yourself what has happened before.
hope it helps

Whats the point of living whats the other option?
Well it sounds like you need to start living in the moment. Make connections with people. Dont live for your past live for your now and your future. Sometimes its best not to remember the past, not to be tied down by who you were, your mistakes, your fears. It sucks to lose the good stuff at the same time.
But like i said in the beginning, the alternative is not a sure thing.

Check this out... how do you not know if you are going to be shown a movie of your life and look at it with God when you die? Imagine that... getting to watch everything you have ever gone through, that would be so awesome. And from different view points too... God is good with the camera! So the longer your life is, the longer your movie is :) Life is not that serious, it is a place to play! People just say things to scare you, but don't let them. I think that life is just a big gift from God to let us play with, then when it is all done we can review it again, aww just thinking about this makes me want to cry, because I am thinking about the moments in my life that were so cool, I want to re-live them again. In heaven we will. Because every single moment you have is a jewel, believe it or not, even with people you hate. With people you love, with strangers... the wonderful thing about it is that you are free to be however you want to be and as beautiful as you want to be anytime of the day, I think that life is meant for you to shine like a star. Even though the thought is scary, because you don't want to blind anyone! :) But I say just do it anyways, shining will just make everyone else brighter too.

One way to give meaning to your life (have a point to living) is to contribute something useful to the world around you. Another way to have a point to life is pure enjoyment, just having fun. Memories are one way to give meaning to living, but not the only way by any means. You have a future full of memories waiting to happen - lovers, children, places to see, people to love, contributions only you can make. Believe me, lots of us don't or can't remember our childhoods and still lead happy and meaningful lives. You can too!

"Symbolic" by, DEATH.
I don't mean to dwell
But I can't help myself
When I feel the vibe
And taste a memory
Of a time in life
When years seemed to stand still
I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence
When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold
[Chorus:]
Symbolic acts - so vivid
Yet at the same time
Were invisible
Savor what you feel and what you see
Things that may not seem important now
But may be tomorrow
Do you remember when
Things seemed so eternal?
Heroes were so real...
Their magic frozen in time
The only way to learn
Is be aware and hold on tight
I close my eyes
And sink within myself
Relive the gift of precious memories
In need of a fix called innocence
When did it begin?
The change to come was undetectable
The open wounds expose the importance of
Our innocence
A high that can never be bought or sold

Bcause there is hope for future memories.
I have the same problem. I've repressed certain things in my life and thus have forgotten most of my childhhod. However, I look forward to creating new memories.

I've often thought this as well.
But- I'm also having a great life and enjoying nearly every day. If remembering is that important, as previously mentioned a journal is a good idea. In this day and age- we call it a blog tho'. Much more fashionable.

There is no point in living, but somehow there is living. The memories you can't have later will happen later. The important thing is you have it now.
