I have to perform a scene as a final exam for my acting class this semester. I have to perform with a partner. My partner and I are both females, and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a good scene to perform. It must NOT contain any sexual activity OR Profanity AT ALL! My instructor suggests the playwright Sam Shepherd. Any suggestions?

Little Women . . . No Exit . . . Sleepless in Seattle (Rosie O'Donnell's character and Meg Ryan's) . . . Chicago has excellent dialogue with the three strong female characters . . .The Women of Troy (old school) . . . Shakespeare: As You Like It (the beginning act).

Break a leg. And BTW, when they have a monologue for two, it's called a dialogue ;) (sorry, couldn't resist!)

At bookstores or libraries there are compilations of scenes called "Scenes for Women" and "Scenes from the 90's,80's,etc"....this will at least give you a good collection of ideas. If you use these books, I would suggest reading the entire play because there are often clues throughout the rest of the play that help you figure out who the chartacters are and what is going on.

Have fun!

What about Shakespeare, "The twelfth night" is not a bad ideea, think about the scene in wich Viola dresses up like a man and has great scenes with Olivia, both actors being women!

The Greek play Antigone by Sophocles has a great dualogue between two sisters arguing over whether they should break the law to bury their dead brother. It's not to long and you can do a lot with it.
Then there's the dumb waiter by harold pinter, yes the characters are male but they could be played by women.

My first thought in this is Thelma and Louise, and certainly it can be accomplished without profanity or sexual activity even suggested.

As dark as the real context of the work is there are comedic moments between the two women, and valid messages they deliver.
