We are quite happy to talk glibly of there being no meaning to life other than what we ascribe to it or, alternatively, our having a sense of meaning in our lives, but what do we actually mean by 'meaning' in this sense?

What is the defining characteristic of an ascribed meaning regardless of its purported independence of the ascriber?

Seeing as 40% of Britons don't know who St George is or what he did is St Georges Day the right day to celebrate our culture? Is their another person or event that would be more appropriate?

I'm trying to learn how to figure out which form Conditional arguments are and disjunctive arguments are. And whether they are valid or not. I can determine the arguments form, and thats it. So..

This sentence: If you can't reduce our monthly cell phone bill by at least $15, then it is not worth the hassle of changing your service provider. I just calculated that the montly saving should be only $10 at best, so it is really not worth the hassle of changing your service provider.

Thats conditional, right? But which form is it? AA, AC, DA, DC? and is valid or invalid? And tell me how you determined it so I can learn. Thanks..

I am setting up Swaprock.com.au which will allow people to swap these items that they no longer use. It is not up yet, but not far away.
Just list the items you dont use, send them to someone when they ask for them, then you get credit to request stuff you want from others!!
I think it could be very popular, especially with uni people for books, and gamers would love it too. Dvd and Cd collectors would get into it I reckon also, but I NEED INPUT FROM PEOPLE.
If you would like more info drop me an email at swaprock@yahoo.com.au I am starting beta testing in April 07 and need some people to give it a try.

We are aware that there was nobody who is reading this who remembers!

However, you remember the celebrations on the eve of the millenium - do you know how they celebrated on the night of December 31st 1899, for the start of a new century? - or where my son can find out? It is for a school project on the 20th century - he has to do a slide show. He has pictures for the end of the 20th century but would like to include one for the start (and he knows that you can take the 20th century starting and ending in 1901 and 2001, but he has decided to just do years that start 19--).

Thanks for any help!

I feel like I can't quite find my style of art. I look at so many artist and see that almost all of their pieces have the same style. Whenever I draw something it seems to be different in small sets. For instance some times I draw in a style of tim burton. Then other times I'll do realistic drawings of people. On top of that I also do graffiti style and much more. I'm told they are all well drawn and painted although I can't quite stick to a style. How do artist know they always want to draw the way they do? Like Jeremy Fish (my personal fav) Why do all his art look the same? It seems like he is talented enough to draw in other ways but all I see is the same stuff? Amazing of course but don't they ever feel like changing? I have ten different styles but I deno which is really mine...sometimes I look at them and think that other artist effected my art. Then I think I'm stealing styles. Is there any mental practice I should take?Should I not look at any art or tv 4 a month 2 find mystyle?

I went and saw a slideshow presentation of Al Gore's 'An Inconvenient Truth' and at the end were early photographs of Earth from space, and a really wonderful poem was read about one of the photos featuring Earth as a speck. Does anyone know what this poem might be / who the author was? I'd really like to know!

I've never danced and neither has he. I'm looking into this to find a very fun common hobby for us. The problem is that (like so many other things) this is a hobby in which there are good instructors and bad instructors.

I'm really just looking to have fun with him and enjoy each other. I would also prefer a group setting.

If someone came to you and told you that they were closely related to several Nazis (S.S. officers) that fled to S. America to avoid prosecution... would you look negatively at that or knowing that they had no personal involvement, find it interesting? I'm related to several, but it has been kept a HUGE secret in my family until I uncovered it in a really old, hidden photo album a year ago. Turns out my aunt was aware, but no one else was...or admitted to being aware. My mom told me to keep my mouth shut, which of course I do... but would you be interested or would you look down at this about me and my family?
