Do you know how they celebrated in 1900?

We are aware that there was nobody who is reading this who remembers!

However, you remember the celebrations on the eve of the millenium - do you know how they celebrated on the night of December 31st 1899, for the start of a new century? - or where my son can find out? It is for a school project on the 20th century - he has to do a slide show. He has pictures for the end of the 20th century but would like to include one for the start (and he knows that you can take the 20th century starting and ending in 1901 and 2001, but he has decided to just do years that start 19--).

Hmmm - do people ever read what the question says - this is aimed at Flingebunt, because I pointed out that my son is doing the 1900s and that, although some say the century started in 1901, he is taking the start as 1900.
