Here's the scoop: I need to conduct genealogy research for an academic project, and create a detailed report about my family and their roots and highlight it with a family tree. How do I go about doing it? How do I begin? What are some good websites? Other sources? This is not only intellectually interesting, but its for a project grade (40%). Please help me. Thank you in advance. :)

Crawling along the dark narrow road,

Turning to look slightly over my shoulder,

Highly alarmed 'til I sight a tiny green toad,

Shivering when I notice its gotten much colder.

I crawl and I creep still no cover for me,

I am commonly known as a wrong doer,

I am not what you think I might be,

I crawl on four legs and live in a sewer.

My uncle was killed whilst serving with the Black Watch, Highland Division at Calne, France. I cannot find any info as to what happend to him or any of the over serving members from the 11th July - 21st July (1944) i cant be completely sure of the year. I do know that they were fighting alongs side the canadians whille waiting for back up from the yanks, who arrived too late and there were very heavy casualties, one of them being my uncle. Ive gone through all the usual channals, Black Watch Museam, Web sites, War graves have even been to the War museam in Calne. There is plenty of info to be found but it all stops at the 11th July 1944. Im trying to find out what happend during those 10 missing days. I have posted messages on many WWII web sites but still draw blanks. Hopefully somebody can help as i really dont know where else to go. Many Thanks

So far i am receiving some great answers to my questions. this is along the same lines but more detailed!
I have a dance studio that is letting me host an art gallary!
What should i ask them about restrictions? eg: how many holes can i put on the wall. is your building allowed to have wine drunk there? and i'm sure i'm forgetting to ask about a dozen more questions. Any ideas
Thanks again!

In an effort to attract users to an area of my site, I decided to sponsor a low budget and very simplistic photo contest. So far, not a single entry.

I was wondering if anyone here would know be willing to offer advice on finding entrants?
