I'm lost. I understand Shakespeare and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, but I can't make heads or tails of Charlotte Bronte. I am enjoying this book so far (I'm at chapter 8 right now), I'm stuck on one part, which is what advice did Helen give Jane help at all is greatly appreciated.

I read an article in elementary school (12-15 years ago) that I'd like to find again. The author was Canadian, and he talked about how America was underappreciated for all the aid we've offered the world. I think it's often used in schools (some may call it propoganda). My grandma bought this book for me while we were on vacation last year. I have been reading it and it seems to make a very good point- the environmentalist's Bible. I do have respect for the environment so this has been an enjoyable book(but it was a little boring at times).

But the problem is the book is outdated- written over forty years ago. The threat of DDT and other pesticides has been greatly reduced since then, and I'm wondering if I should keep dwelling on the past. I really was really shooting at doing a report on a book of a more modern cause- like AIDS or someting. So, is Silent Spring as worthwhile as everyone says it is?

Ive been working on a monologue for a theatre workshop. How is this?

"Okay... so i know i was supposed to have a monologue prepared and stuff... but i kinda... well sorta... just uh... let me explane. So for the past two weeks i... okay, actually last night, i was tring to write a monologue, full of passion! Then BAM! it hit me. Romance. So.. as i wrote my first few sentences... i realized... i dont know squat about romance. Actually, the only semi-romantic thing that ever happened to me was my first date. If you even want to call it a date. Technically, im not allowed to date till im "16" Buut, EVERYONE in my school calls it a date, so why not. Lets call it a date. Okay, anyway, me and my boyfriend Steve had just taken me out to the movies, and we were walking home. So... once we were at my porch, i could just guess what was going to happen (ive seen it in all of those stupid love movies) so... well... we kind of just stood there for a minuite.

The wind sang through the midday sky,
The sun displayed delight.
Some birds began to mingle with,
The clouds intriguing white.

Twirling leaves drifted on the air,
The grass began to shift.
A sharp aroma filled the trees,
My breath began to drift.

I could not understand why I,
Never knew of such peace.
For just a single moment my,
Troubles commenced to cease.

A world of awe was all around,
Brilliant bliss consumed.
Nature was frozen long ago
But for me it resumed.

Blooming flowers, and stunning life,
Can shape a place unknown.
It’s safe to know that there’s a
