I can't tell u if it's young adult or not cause I don't pay attention to that, but there's a book called I Capture the Castle. It's a romance. It's by Dodie Smith, and it's really really good. And sad, too, but you should really read it. If you like fantasy, read Eragon, I know it's children's but frankly I don't care. It's an awesome book, and the sequel too. And there's Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer, that's also a romance and it's pretty cool. Read the sequel, New Moon, too. Have fun! Reading's the best thing you can do.

One of my all time favourite books is:

"Anne of Green Gables" - by L.M. Montgomery.

A heartwarming story set in Prince Edward Island, Canada around the turn of the last century. A highly itelligent orphan and her exploits in that red-earthed island.

There were many sequels to the popular Anne books. But I think the 1st one (above) is the best.

Enjoy.

I know you said that your not a fan of the "classics," But Jane Austen is amazing. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books I've ever read. It is so witty, and so human. It takes a lot of thought, at first, to get into the flow of the story, and to get used to the way they talk, but its worth it.

I also love the Xanth series by Piers Anthony. The first one is called a spell for chameleon. Its fantasy, but not dorky fantasy...I promise. : ) He uses lots of puns, and the map of Xanth is shaped like Florida. The non magical world is called "Mundania." Its very funny. I would highly, highly recommend them.

Let me know if you read and like either of those suggestions!
