story ideas?

i have to write a horror/ scary story for school but i dont know what to write it about...please i need your help!

try finding some Edgar Allen Poe stories online (I know for a fact they're on there somewhere) They will fill your head with ideas! He's got some pretty scary ones, such as the Tell Tale Heart

What is scary to YOU?

Think of some terrifying dreams you may have had, some things you are terrified of - spiders? rats?

Start by brainstorming on paper - write down all kinds of ideas no matter how dumb they sound - tons of them

Then start putting them together like a puzzle to form a plot.

Then a good outline is next along with some good character analysis and studies.

Lastly, any research you need to do to make the story accurate.

Then start writing. Make your first draft short. Then read it to yourself and see where you need more details, more information, more dialogue etc.

Nobody can tell someone what they should write about - not really. Those are someone else's ideas. Surely you have thoughts in your mind as to what is scary and you can think of a scenario yourself. Good luck. Pax - C.

Try thinking of what may have been something you really were scared of at one time or another and see if you can develop a character from that,..example: if you were afraid of thunder as a child you might develop a very loud billowing creature that frightens with lightning boltz from his eyes or such. Try to keep things related or relative in the creation . The thunderdog could be after a whirlcat which would be a catfish that has the ability to suck the thunderdog into its whirlpool. Describing the whirlpool and its overtaking attempt of the thunderdog would be fabulous,...like a tornado becoming a whirlpool,...see the effect or the idea. Hope I helped.

You'll need twists in your story to make it good.

Haunted houses, ghosts... classics, and they always work.

Perhaps someone who meets a girl and becomes good friends with her, only to find out ages later that her new friend died 100 years ago...

Just some ideas. Perhaps you can get more ideas if you look at some scary books from your local library?

Well, my brother told this one many years ago while we were all sitting around a bonfire in the woods. He had his friends hiding in those woods to do appropriate sound effects.

"It was a very dark night. At the side of the country road was a beautful girl in a lovely white gown. Around her neck was a blue velvet ribbon.

He made up stories around that girl - but she would never take off that blue velvet ribbon. Until one day when she was bugged and bugged by the others, and finally she took off the blue velvet ribbon, and her head fell off.

you can write about a girl who goes for a walk and finds a path soon as she stepp on it it turns to midnight and it is a full moon with the Trees swaing wityh the wind and fog every were and she keeps on walking , u can ad more details and wat happens like if someone is following her and gets chached bu wolfs and ETC.

u can make up the rest.

i love writting novels going to try to get mine published,. but it has a totaly different plot in it and it is about Demons. the main charicter is a half-Demon and all half-Demon's in my story are Human Protectors but hern Father (Full Demon) kills her mother, and lots more. (that is my novel i am writting) and i am only 15 my god sister is 13 and plays golf and she has a handy cap of 16. pritty good.
