I'm 16 turning 17. Whilst reminiscing in my room the other day, I realized that I hadn't accomplished much up to this point. That's when I decided that I'd like to pick up guitar, singing, acting, dancing, or something to occupy my time with... Do you think it would be too late in the game to take up one of these hobbies? Namely, singing because I'd like to conjoin in with guitar.

Virtually any and all responses are appreciated! Try not to flame...

Chapter 1

Pretzels and cheese. It must have been the best tasting thing at 14. I don’t remember the first time that I had it and I’m really upset about that. I remember mom always taking us to the mall and we would buy them at Sam’s pretzels after getting our Christmas pictures taken. Sitting there was interesting and boring. Even though I felt beautiful I was very careless about the fact that I had to sit there and smile. I never hated it nor did I ever love it. I simply didn’t care. It might have been because I knew that in just a few minutes I would eating pretzels and cheese, even though it was never a few minutes. The warm and soft kind that you can never stop chewing because you keep on putting more in your mouth. We never do that anymore and I wish we did for the ones at school aren’t half as good as the ones at Sam’s. That never mattered though for pretzels and cheese are pretzels and cheese and that’s what matters.
Pretzels and cheese reminded me of Blake on Peachtree lane, because both where satisfying. I adored him for he was beautiful and charming. He lived just up the street from me. I was 1008 Peachtree and he was 1023. My name is Natalie by the way, Natalie Ricotta. I always thought that Blake and Natalie sounded good together, if you know what I mean. My middle name is Nicole and I thanked God that my first name wasn’t Nicole for then our names wouldn’t flow. Blake was 14 and so was I so that’s goes smoothly too. The both of us where two of the few kids who where Alley in 2007. If you where Alley you where part of the gang, the Gasper gang, Gasper Alley. There was Jimmy who was 15. He is black, African-American I mean. He must have the strongest kid muscles ever. Faith is 13 and quite pretty. Her red hair is so long she was thinking about selling it. Tom is youngest at 12. He’s a cute kid if you ask me. He has such great sense of humor; sometimes I find it hard to take him seriously. Vincent also at the age of 13 is the tallest out of us all. When he walks by all the bad smells seem to disintegrate into the air like your loved one driving, reaching the end of the road when you want them to stay with you; from the amount of cologne he sprays. Then there’s Blake with brown hair, the color of his eyes and his tanned skin. With me being last, I’m average height, with brown reddish hair and green eyes, I’m actually beautiful although I always wear a hat so you don’t see my face that easily. At 7pm the gang would tie their shoes and slip on their hats as if we were going to a baseball game. We would tell our parents we were going to hang with friends and leave the house, for that wasn’t a lie. When we told them we were going for ice cream or we were going to the park that was where we hoped God would forgive us.
Each alley would curve onto Jeffery Place and turn over to Albertson Ave. When you reached the bowling alley you where sure to find a hidden street. The street was Gasper that shivered down like a ramp. That was how we came to a name. We called ourselves Alley because of the bowling alley and from Gasper Street. I remember, the road was filled with graffiti and was paved with gray concrete that had patches of black cement to fill in holes. As trees surrounded the path you where sure at any moment you would be swallowed up. Once, you passed the wire with shoes dangling from top you would come to a willow tree and our names would be carved on the bark that looked 100 years old. Some say it was the entrance to the Alley and I believe it too. If you ever found a forest of trees that where willow or oak then you knew you where in Gasper Alley

Not in general, I'm talking about YOU!

What makes you unique from the other 6 billion people on this planet?

A single red rose rests upon a grand piano, reveling in its own delicate beauty. The room contains no walls; its boundaries are limitless. A rich, midnight black is presents throughout the atmosphere. Though the room exists boundless, the rose possesses a divine aura, which blossoms in the eyes of many. It signifies a vast number of things… A petal dropped for Loneliness… A petal shed for Hope… A petal given for Romance… A petal kept for Solitude… Yet, somewhere, amidst all of its meanings, lays a hushed heavenly elegance.

______________________________...

Please give me an honest critique. Yes, I realize the rose is classic and may seem to you overused.. Put that aside and pretend the rose is still meaningful to you if you feel this way. The paragraph is meant to describe and evoke a feeling about the essence of the photgraph...

Please be honest in what you think.. I appreciate details.. Thank you!!

I've been playing violin for about two years, and recently, I got a new teacher because I had to move to a different state. My last teacher was attempting to teach me the vibrato, by shaking my hand side to side, but the teacher I have now is telling me to practice moving forward and back on the string.

Could you tell me how you practice the vibrato? Also, is hand vibrato more difficult than the arm vibrato? Or is wrist vibrato better? What is your preference?

i dont think anything can be meaningless as nihilism suggests. in my opinion nothing can be meaningless. its just not. alot of nihilists see life as meaningless, however that cant deny the fact that they are experiencing life. and the fact that your experiencing something means that the thing that is being experienced serves a purpose. and that purpose is to be experienced, which would mean that if something serves a purpose it cannot be meaningless. there are many things that people see as meaningless. such as, war,violence,racism,love,jealo... hate. however while the person thinks these things are meaningless, they are not. it serves a purpose in one way or another whether its there for you disagree upon or to make reference and base ideas for or against it. I think that the biggest flaw in nihilism is that the point of it is to prove the pointlessness in things such as life. However the fact that they are stating pointlessness is still nonetheless stating. And in order to state something you have to make a point. It’s a point in pointlessness. It’s a self defeating and a self contradictory way of looking at things.

My husband bought me a beautiful Louet S10 single-treadle spinning wheel for Valentine's Day, and now that it and I have come to an agreement about this whole spinning process, I'm thinking it needs a name. It has an excellent "personality" though it can be a bit stubborn at times, and certainly knows how to object to unpleasant fibers! I'm inclined to call it a "her," but I'm open to suggestion. Any ideas?

This is more on the philosophical side, instead of being in the scientific field. I have a lingering suspicion that the simpler and the more random a question gets, the more difficult it is for a person to answer ... =)

I didn't think epilepsy was very common yet history seems to have so many great people who suffered from it - it's like the percentage of people who leave their mark on this world that had epilepsy is out of proportion to the percentage of people who suffer from epilepsy.

i have noticed that many people ask questions that they think as philisophical but no one thinks outside of the box, which is what philosophy is all about. people seem to quote the bible and express there pre conceived notions on life but both of the thoughts have no basis in philosophy whatsover. philosophy is free thinking not what they have been told to be true. i have also noticed that no one ever asked REAL questions about philosophy. its all very simple and cliche questions such as "what is love" or "what is the meaning of life" there is nothing original. yet nobody brings up issues such as external world skepticism, existentialism, dualism, nihilism, or any thing pertaining to any REAL epistemilogical philosophy. why do you think this is?

Sometimes I think the whole world has gone crazy, but then again maybe it's just me. Everyone wishes for the perfect life. Some people get it, I'm not one of those people. I was sitting on a plane as it soared over the glistening water of the vast Atlantic. London, England is where I am headed. To live with my dad whom I had visited every summer since I was four years old. I'd been to London every summer for thirteen years. I love London, I truly do, but it just isn't the place for me. I don't feel like I would ever get my perfect life, or my happily ever after there. The busy streets, the brain-racketting noises, they're great. Except you get used to them, maybe even too used to them. I really didn't know what to expect in London though I had been there for a month, every year, for thirteen years. Even though it seemed like I had it all worked out in my mind, London was so different from Phoenix.
