I need them to stay nice, so obviously I'll stay out of water/mud and whatnot, but is it okay to just expose them to gravel and whatnot?

Do not take them outside, at all. Every step you take, you are wearing away at the sole. Also, they will get scuffed easily and not look as nice onstage.
If you like the way the shoes look and want a pair to wear around, look in the Discount Dance Supply catalogue for a really cheap pair (15 dollars or so) and wear those around-- save the nice pair for dancing.

I would say no because you want them to stay nice. To me at least this means make them look like their still new (people have different definitions). even if you stay out of the mud and water people can step on them....u can scratch them etc..

Technically you at the instant are not meant to as a results of fact the soles of the footwear are very delicate and truthfully broken, yet I positioned on mine exterior each and all of the time. The bottoms of my footwear do no longer consistently look as superb as new ones, in spite of the incontrovertible fact that that's in simple terms something you will notice while you're gazing them heavily. confident, they are extra slippery than time-honored footwear, yet for me that's often been extra of a difficulty interior than exterior. I consistently in simple terms verify the bottoms for little rocks until now a instruct and that i've got never had a difficulty.

No, you do not want to wear them outside. It could do major damage to the sole and plus if they get scuffed, it will be noticeable on stage.
