If I were a Supreme Court Judge, my decisions would have far-reaching ramifications to the cases brought before my attention. Whether they be abortion rights, death sentences or any other case which would inherently be important to my society, I would have to actually be there to make sure that such decisions would be heard and, possibly, passed. A SC judge has to decide the major issues of his/her society/culture/country as a whole, and therefore his/her decisions are significant.

This is fairly easy as the human being is naturally self serving and biased, so the simple fact that being the Supreme Court Judge makes yourself (the judge) the most important person.

You are not just saving the mother, but also her children. It is worth dying for to give a child their mother.
