My great grandparents came over to America through Ellis Island. They were from Russia and like many immigrants changed their names to more "american names" upon arriving. They were named Baker and the only one who may have known was my grandfather but he died before I was born and no one ever thought to ask him. How can I figure out what their names were before arriving in America?

Okay I have a role in this school musicl on March 15th and 16th. I'm a low tenor and I have the role of (i'm guessing) a high tenor. I need to be able to hit a High C with no trouble at all my choir director said. Except I can only hit it in my Falsetto and (i must admit) it sounds GRUESOME. My sister and brother can sing in their falsetto (both older than me) and it sounds great - but mine is horrible. Can someone PLEASE tell me how to sing in my Falsetto and make it sound like it's belting - or make it sound like it's not bad? *OTHER INFO.* My highest belting note is a Middle A.

my folktale is supposed to have elements of a certain time period in russia. the plot includes a queen, a reckless prince, a stepmother, peasants, and a fairy/spirit thing. it takes place in the republic of kamykia. i know, the plot needs some work, but i'm just looking for a time period that kind of suits my characters. thanks much!

when your brain sends and recieves electrical impulses from your body which controls your movements and thought, did'nt those impulses and chemicals come from somewhere?

if you throw a rock, will it fallow a parabolic path?
why would'nt the atoms that encompass our bodies fallow the predictable, unbreaking laws of physics?\
what im saying is there is no free-will. its an illusion. everything has a cause. including your brain. the chemicals and molecules do what they are told just like every other thing that exsist in the physical universe.

I'm having a little trouble with categorizing a few of the social studies terms on my homework. The unit we're working on is about World War II, if that helps. Pick the one that doesn't belong, and then categorize the remaining 3 words (I've put parenthesis around the ones I think don't belong, I'd appreciate if you pointed out any that were wrong)

1) Contraband, front, [unrestricted submarine warfare], and convoy.

2) Dissent, espionage, sedition, [armament]

3) Stalemate, trench warfare, [crusade], no man's land

4) draft, [munitions], victory gardens, war bonds

5) blockades, [armistice], U-boats, unrestricted submarine warfare

6) [neutral], excise tax, war bonds, income tax

Eventually mankind will find ways in which to eliminate suffering. Whether it be by pharmacologic methods or genetic engineering, we will find ways in which we can achieve permanent states of bliss and happiness. Is this a good thing or not? I think it is. I know many of you say that only by suffering can you learn anything valuable, but it is major depression or PTSD valuable to us? What do you think?

I have drawn a large butterfly in the upper left corner of my paper, but i don't knowwhat i should do for the rest of the picture. I was thinking of having a girl holding her hands below it, and smile/looking at it. The butterly is different shades of blue, and black.

Any suggestions? (it's made out of colored pencils/carcoal)

The Eternal Return is basically the theory that there is infinite time and a finite number of events, and eventually the events will recur again and again infinitely. Consider the world as a super-complex chess game. If games of chess are played one after another forever, eventually a game will be repeated since there is only a finite number of possible games, it is the same with the world; eventually events will recur in the same order. The world is an eternal process of coming to be and passing away. The process, however, has no beginning or end. Eventually every combination of matter and energy will be realized and repeated and infinite number of times

the reason it is disturbing is because you would live this life over and over and over again. it was one of the major topics in nietzches philosophies.
