1st, if you drink caffine drinks switch to water and juice drinks, no caffine carbinated water [that stuff in caffine drinks that make it fizz] 2)do sit ups, i know they hurt, but inless your parrents have a bo flex, but start low like 10 a day, and then 20, and so on. try to stay active, like if you have gym, get activie in it. and et healthier, but dont go all out, you are only 13, but mainly do the water and juice drinks because it gives you more energy, and the active part. [much love]
p.s. and above where she says you are 13, maybe not diet, but that doesnt mean you cant take care of your body. and if you want to go on a diet its upto you, just dont go past your body limits

At 13 you should not diet, your body is still growing and dieting now means you'll probably gain more weight later.

Ballet, like the modeling industry is rife with eating disorders so for all that is good, don't take dieting advice from a dancer, go see a nutritionist for advice.

Better yet, concenctrate on eating well, eat lots of fruits and veggies, cut out the soda and junk food and drink lots of water. The ballet classes will be great exercise and you'll probably start losing weight and building muscle mass if you follow this tactic.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

To tell the truth, dieting is bad for your age, because your body hasn't developed enough for changing diets all of a sudden. I do know a ballet dancer that eats lightly and avoids carbs at all cost, but still eat them on a basis. (And just to say, 130 lbs at 13 and a ballet dancer, that's really good and perfect for ballet, even though there are no sizes for any dance.)

ok first of all you dont really need to change your diet that much. And you should never do it without consulting a docter because of your age. The ideal weight for someone who is 5'4 is 120. Its not a bad thing to be a little over that. Beside the dancing combind with a little less mcdonalds and soda you'll loose the weight in no time. You'd be surprise how much weight you can loose by just dropping soda!
may God bless you and your dancing

If your starting ballet you should start to lose the weight naturally. I have been dancing ballet my whole life and once yous tart dancing its fairly easy to stay in shape. However as far as diets go, I wouldn't recommend going on a specific diet, they are dangerous. Just try to stay away from lots of junk food, and eat well balanced meals. Try to eat one meal of meat, and good proteins. Eat good, nutritious breakfasts..it helps keep you from gettin really hungry and scarfing tons of food later. When you want a snack eat something healthy like pretzels, fruit, cheese, etc instead of chips, cookies, ice cream, and other junk food. As long as you eat right and keep up ballet the weight should shed quickly..HOWEVER..130 lbs isn't bad!!

You will lose weight as you dance more. You said you're just starting out, right? So you will lose weight naturally. Dieting is no fun and is not very effective. It is hard on your body and it might diminish your ability to dance. If you want to change your eating habits to make them healthier that's a good idea. Don't drink soda and other high-sugar poor nutrition drinks. They contain a lot of calories but nothing useful. Replace it with juice or water. Don't eat a lot in the evening, especially before going to bed. Other than that - eat everything, dance a lot and be happy.

You don't mention how tall you are, so I can't say if you need to lose weight or not. I think doing ballet will probably cause you to firm up and you'll probably get heavier, since muscle weighs more than fat does. Weight is nothing more than a number. It has very little to do with how fit or healthy you are. You could also try taking up jogging to help increase your endurance. Dancing is pretty hectic exercise in itself.

If you must diet, try cutting out snacks (like chips, cookies and soda) or switch to healthier snacks, like carrot sticks and water.

Interestingly, balance is a big part of ballet and doing something to drastically change your weight in a short amount of time will make it harder for you to master the moves you will be learning. I took 7+ years of dance training and the dancing itself was a good enough weight loss regime. The only thing I ever had to add were push-ups and leg lifts. (Specifically to make me arms stronger for lifts and to strengthen my core.) I just did push-ups until I couldn't anymore. To really push yourself, try balancing on chairs while you do push-ups. (one for each hand and one for your feet - try to control your movement and drop below your hand level with every drop down.) Leg lifts I just did ten and then held as long as I could then rested. I repeated that 10 times. I didn't even change what I was eating. . . Just danced for three or more hours a day. On a side note I found that (especially when I was lifting another dancer) ballet had less to do with weight and more to do with balance and strength. I lifted some girls that were 6 foot tall with no problem and some who were 5 foot tall were impossible.I suggest if you concentrate on strength, balance, and flexibility the unnecessary pounds will just fall away.

You don't need to lose weight to do ballet, if you eat healthy and do ballet, you'll lose weight and tone your muscles just through that. Don't worry about having to be the perfect body type for ballet, I'm nowhere near it, but I still do ballet, and it hasn't stopped me from doing it.
