my folktale is supposed to have elements of a certain time period in russia. the plot includes a queen, a reckless prince, a stepmother, peasants, and a fairy/spirit thing. it takes place in the republic of kamykia. i know, the plot needs some work, but i'm just looking for a time period that kind of suits my characters. thanks much!

Your best bet would be the one you are the most familiar with, or know the most about. If it were me, I'd shoot for the dark ages.

what about during the time the royal family was overthrown and shot in the woods? maybe anastasia could be an element of the story.
