Would there be fewer murders?

Most of the crimes in the UK are well a bit different than the mess we have in the USA. Capital Murder is well not Murder nor Manslaughter, etc.

The US has had no success and "errors" proven by DNA but we have such "ruthless" segments of society: gangs, Aryan nation,
pedophiles (as we spell such) and what no real reductions noted.

The US death sentence is regional, by states, as if you can name any counties in the UK that would vote for such, well other than for terrorists, treason, etc. Between the Queen, Church and well all those Methodists and Quakers, it is not going to happen in the UK, well I am just a son of Wales, stranded in the colonies.

Most of the famous 1950's executions in England were cases that even in America would have been not such. Crimes of passion, crimes by deranged or insane fools and then your murder of a policeman or child.

To hear that my "Mother Country" even thinks this scares me a bit. It will soon stop here in the USA at least in more states, but even in the churches more folks are upset as to women and gays being ordained than such as a "death penalty".

But someone will shoot your wife, rape your child regardless of any "threat" of such.

So, no answer but if DVA can prove guilt or innocence, then if there is no "DNA" society owes that person the "doubt", no death sentence?

Still a "good question" but demands better answers?

Certainly something to ponder, isn't it? I really doubt it.

Something very interesting... when I was in the Bahamas about 8 years ago, the big story was about 2 men that were about to be hung there for murder. We found out that when Britain banned hangings, it didn't apply to controlled territories. There was quite a bit of public debate going on about whether or not the ban should apply to the British controlled islands, as well. I never did hear what came of it, or if the laws were changed since then. I may have to go look it up, to satisfy my curiosity...

No, there is absolutely no evidence that capital punishment has any effect whatsoever on the level of homicides. Just look at the USA.

Yes
Also there would be more room in the prisons for the others so they could start giving them real sentences instead of jokes
