Well, sure. I mean, who's going to tell a friend that the new pair of jeans she loves so much make her butt look huge? You can all get up on your high horses and say you would never lie even to save someone's feelings but I'm just being honest. It's not necessary to hurt someone's feelings. Now, if it were important, like if their bf was cheating on them, yeah, I'd tell them.

I could not lie Its not in my blood. and I always maintained an honest approach to all things in general. I know in general people do tell lies. the reason is they get into situations they can't get out of. I rather look at the circumstances and think consequently in what i am doing. It may be an old fashioned approach, but it helps me to build a beeter life for myself.but if I am faced with a lie i quite often listen to them and turn the other cheek.. i know when people tell me lies and i often pull them up and make them responasability in what they say or I might ignore them. depending on the circumstances

Depending on the situation, yes, and whoever says they wouldn't is lying. People tell small lies all the time. Sometimes it's just not worth the hassle telling someone the truth, tell them what they want to hear and keep the peace.

Yep. When the ego is involved then the lie can come so cheaply.
When best interest and the welfare of my friend is at stake then the truth will be told.

everyone lies...to themselves and others
and working for a single answer to your question, that applies across all situations, is madness
if you have a conscience, you'll do what you think is best for whatever reasons (or rationalizations) work for you at the moment
more than likely: the whole thing will blow up in your face anyway
so, when in doubt: perhaps the safest, truest, thing to do is to keep one's mouth shut
after all: just because a question hangs in the air, is one obligated to answer? --h.quirk

You are asking and ethical question. so first ask yourself what kind of ethical framework you would like to respond with.
some examples are:
utalitarian: would lying to him create more happiness than telling him the truth?
egoist:what would make you better off
religious: GOD says to always tell the truth.

I don't believe you would lie to a friend if they are really a good friend of yours, i don't see the point.

unfortunately, i have a bad habit of telling the truth. it would make you a better friend if you could do the same.

That would depend on what I would be 'lying' about, and if that person would be 'hurt' or 'helped' by my lie ... as opposed to how much he would be 'hurt' or 'helped' if I told hin/her the truth.

Sometimes it seems that the kindest thing we might do for a friend is to lie to him.
