I have a world history project due in a few days. We have to make our own country. I can't think of a good name for my country- The theme is based off of the movies Logan's Run and The Truman Show. It will be a enclosed country in Antarctica- it runs on solar power of course. But its kind of futuristic and inventive, anyone have any suggestions for the name? Be creative! Thanks.

I'm looking for something new and interesting to read. I'll read just about anything, as long as it's fiction, and I'm especially interested in science-fiction, fantasy, and horror. Adherence to these genres isn't important - I'm just looking to add to my list. Thanks!

What do you think? I think it means that the truly intelligent understand that we are soooo small in the universe and that with all the answers, equations and theories we do have. We still can't answer the important ones. But thats just ignorant me. what do you think? enlighten me.

I made a video with iMovie HD on my apple computer. The video is about 430MB large, my main goal is to get it into html form, so i can post it in a blog, but all the hosts I have found only accept up to 100MB. I have found one site that allows up to 500MB, but it won't accept my file type :(
any suggestions on sites or anything?!
Thank You!

1. What is the stone called.

2. Where was it dicovered?

3. Who discovered the stone?

4. How could the stone help in our knowledge of ancient Egypt?

There have been many stories from history that have ended in a 'perfect type' of way. For example take 'The Little Sea Maid' (also known as 'The Little Mermaid') from Hans Christian Anderson. At the end of the story when she is unable to kill her love she throws herself from the ship ready to die but instead is 'saved' from death by children of the air. OR 'Le Belle te le Bete' (I believe it is, my French is very rusty. Also known as 'Beauty and the Beast') from Jeanne-Marie Leprince De Beaumont where the primary female character eventually finds a way to love the beast.

But the real world is not like this, and if presented with a real world example we are in the most part unable to accept it, it is to perfect in a way.

So my question is, if we like these fairy tales and hold them as an example for what can be why do we not strive to achieve it? AND Why do we resist it, and try to change it to what we are comfortable with?

Serious answers only.
Please explain your answers.

Shot 1: Hits Kennedy in the throat (Grassy Knoll)

Shot 2: Hits Kennedy in the back (Dal-Tex Building)

Shot 3: Hits Connally in the back (Book Depository)

Shot 4: Hits curb & injures a bystander (Dal-Tex Building)

Shot 5: Hits Kennedy in the back of the head, but isn't a direct hit. The bullet goes on to strike the windshield. (Book Depository)

Shot 6: Hits Kennedy near the right temple and exits the right back of his head. (Grassy Knoll)

6 shots. 4 snipers. 5 hits, 1 miss(not counting the Connally hit).

I believe the Mafia was behind JFK's murder. Lee Harvey Oswald was the fall guy. J.D. Tippit was not involved. Lee Harvey Oswald may or may not have shot him. 2 bullet casings found at the crime scene didn't match Oswald's gun.

Imperialism has its own good effect and bad effects. Nobody likes imperialism, though, even when its good efects outweigh its bad effects. Freedome is the most precious thing.

In the past, Britain was the the great impire on which the Sun did not set.

In light of the above:

1. What are the good effects of the old imperialistic Britain?
2. What are the bad effects of the old imperialistic Britain?

Please illustrate your answer with brief examples.

It's a great confidence builder and helps you socially but i'm starting to really like him and I can't tell if he "likes" me or is just being nice and flirty because it's his job? Isn't their a rule about instructors and students not being able to socialize outside of the Studio anyway? Let me know if it's a hopless cause, or what I can do to find out.

particularly with character development. I have a plot and plan on how and when to introduce and execute things, but creating sound, interesting and "deep" charaters are very difficult to me. Can someone please assist? Any responses are appreciated.

I also want to point out that this book falls into the suspense/thriller category so the charaters are key..

Please give me reasons why slavery couldn't have been avoided , and if possible, try and base it on the first part of roots (the Kunta Kinte part)

The reasons I already have are:

1. it had been going on for thousands of years, so people werea ccustomed to it
2. africans weren't as technologically advanced as other parts of the world
3. In america in the 1700s, there wasnt a direct government that had the power to enforce a ban on slavery

Thanks

You know, the song from 'the sound of music'.
They played it to get someone off stage while they were in the middle of their acceptance speech!

Any other song would have been fine - but come on, 'so long, farewell'? they might have just as well yanked them off with a cane or shouted "NEXT!"

Anyone agree?
