What would I tell You? How about this.....a "City" is just like the place that You come from only with more crime, destitution, poverty, homelessness, pollution, urban strife and delinquency. More overcrowding and less freedom, poorer quality of life and a greater struggle to eek out a meager existence. Just Your average 'metropolis'. Water that was once someone Else's sewage. Air that is a by-product of machines. Habitation designed by people whose vision extends only as far as the next bill board. Transportation systems that do not transport merely herd and spew out the travelers. "Public Facilities" that are not for the 'public', only the chosen elite. Hospitals where the word "Care" has had to be removed from "Intensive Care Unit", and replaced with 'Treatment"- because the 'System" does not really care at all, and merely treats the ill and injured in the quickest, cheapest way.
A "City" is the place to live when You don't care about life anymore, and where Nobody cares about You!
Then I would welcome You to the Zoo!

A city is like a starship. Everyone there has a purpose just like a member of a starship crew and they are all required to make the city operate smoothly. The major difference is a city goes nowhere and people come and go from cities with relative freedom.
