What does "The Snowman" by Wallace Stevens mean?

Hey, I'm having a little trouble with this poem. I can't really seem to figure out what the poem is about or means.. can anybody help me? If anybody ever read this poem, please help me out! =) It would be greatly appreciated.

You have to appreciate the winter -- the cold, the frozen trees, the shortened days -- you have to be accustomed to the cold; not to be unhappy in the winter. You have to have perspective, you have to understand that you are nothing, to understand what really is.
