Really though, It depends on the individuals involved.

...AND, even with a superior warrior, there are so many variables that could effect the outcome of such an unlikely battle.

I guess the question is "who would win?"

If they battled in equal strength of people, I would suspect it is a draw. Vikings would battle until they got they loot the wanted and then left. Samari would take one head and then leave the battlefield; they battle for compensation only and a single head gets them that. That means that vikings would kill multiple samari but get distracted for treasure and samari would only kill one viking. I would think a draw, but vikings would have an edge in that scenario.

Vikings.

He who is taller and has the longer sword usually wins.

Vikings ran close to 6 feet tall and their two handed swords were around 50-60 inches in length. Samurai ran about 5' 4'' tall and their swords (Katanas) ran about 40-45 inches in length.

This gave the Viking about a foot advantage. That does not add in the weight factor as heavy sword wielded by a large man is hard for a smaller man with a lighter sword to parry. Also, Japanese samurai fighting is very refined and assumes that you would be fighting another samurai. (History lesson: Until the USA invaded and took over Okinawa, Japan never lost to an invader.) The rather "trashy" fighting style of the Vikings would have been a total shock to the samurai, whereas the Vikings had experience fighting "gentlemen".

Vikings...for this reason. The Samurais were, above all, honorable. Their battles were almost orchestrated...but the Vikings were berserkers...anything goes warriors. They would not have taken the time to give a care about a Samurais honor.

I don't even think it's a debate. Vikings win. Vikings became Normans who became the English kings. Samurai... well, they're not ruling Japan.

Vikings. That's it. I don't remember Clerks talking about Samurai, but they do talk about Berserkers which was a type of viking.

Jay: "Do Berseker man, chicks think it sexy do berserker."
Jay's cousin: "Would you like to make some f### berserker."
