Today, there are all sorts of controls governing our every behavior and restictions on what we can say, think, act or do.
Fences, Traffic Lights, passports, food limits, marriage, etc.

We seem to be moving to a place where all these controls are creating a world in which every individual is being contolled and supressed by some means. America is supposed to be the land of the free, but nobody is really free and their are a lot of freedoms being suppressed every day and there seems to be no end in sight.

I know that everybody has to get along, that is why there are restrictions, but where is the median? Nobody seems to be able to be who they are. They are expected to act, think and be a certain way.

It seems as though the people who are the "outlaws" put restrictions on the rest of us. It's like the Movie 1984, but with a twist and we can't help but move in that direction, where we are nothing but some robotic creatures. I no loner like being a robot and following the masses.

because i want to know whether or not im getting dumber.. because i used to read on a post-highschool reading level and have never had trouble (barring the time i tried to read a Tale of Two cities while in the 7th grade.. i gave up quickly) reading and understanding books... but that book threw me round the loop! I understood the basic plot and what was happening throughout the story.. but i had to go slow and reread alot of stuff and read back and do alot of work to keep it in my head.. basically though, after about the time Lydia runs off i had not trouble. But the most of the beginning, the dialogue and sentence structure had me soo confused!

As some of you might already know I can paint realistic and surrealistic paintings (and do so often enough) and portraits.

But over the years I've heard the cliche many times over that artists paint abstract art because they don't have the real talent to do real art.

That's not always the case, my friends. I work in abstract art also because it allows for a whole universe, a mental landscape, of expression that realism and neo-realism often enough does not allow.

Want to see what I mean here? It frees the creative soul and, when it comes out right, it's fun!

(As always you can click on the image to enlarge it.)

Why do you paint abstract art?

I've entered into a singing contest. I've already won on the local level and I will be progressing to regionals and hopefully state, then nationals. I have an alto voice and I sound somewhere between Reba McEntire and Wynonna Judd. At least that's what everyone tells me. I have a decent voice although I'm not a professional. I need good songs to sing both country & pop. I sang Fancy but I want other songs just in case there's a tie. I have to have at least 3 songs prepared. I want awesome songs. Ones that stand the tests of time and define and artist or era. I'm also thinking of Hit Me With Your Best Shot. Please give me ideas. I don't want anything that's too high. I like Reba, Wynonna, Tanya Tucker, Loretta Lynn etc. And for pop, I like 70's & 80's music. I was also thinking of Like A Virgin too. Any ideas are welcome, they just have to be "Great Songs".
