I remember reading a book when I was a kid and I really want to buy it again, but can't remember what it was called.

It was a bout a group of dolls who lived in a doll house, but the girl who owned them got a brand new one and the old house was put behind her bedroom door and all but forgotten about. The old dolls were a bit shabby and used to stitch each others clothes. The new dolls were snobby and used to look down on the old dolls because they took fun in dancing and singing. Then the new dolls came down with a fever and the old dolls saved their lives by using mustard patches. I think one of the old (male) dolls was in love with one of the new (female) dolls and they ended up being happy together.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - I'm pretty sure this book wasn't Enid Blyton. Thanks :-)

I thought that coming here would help enlighten me concerning debate of deity. Unfortunately, the only theists that participate come from a single religion resulting in a lack of diversity in the theist camp. This is not their fault, obviously, but a pantheist or two would be refreshing. Where is the attempt at substantial discourse? Each side throws insults, shifts blame, conjures irrelevant histories, quotes texts that are unread by the opposition, uses logical fallicies in their diatribes, refuses to stay on topic, complains about each others power or lack thereof, avoids exploration of a consensus regarding moral and ethical principals, and cannot seem to actually discuss the opposition's conspiracy theories. There is a lot of fear, anger and rage in this "debate". I am aware that resistance to ignorant and dangerous philosophies is important. But is this business a conversation? Is this debate a war or a nursery?

say someone discovers *irrefutable* proof that the earth was made or that there is a god or not.....proof that explains how we got here and what happens after death and whats in the rest of the universe. i mean if the mystery is solved and it can't be denied....so how do you think the world would react? would there be wars, attempts to deny it, world peace????

before we commit sin either by compulsive reaction or deliberate, do we actually have a chance to think it over? Why is the old proverbial clause 'we take responsible for own action' so well overrated and overused same as the 90-10 principle?

My sister and I remember a book from our childhood that I'd like to find and read to my daughter now...but we can't remember what it was called or who wrote it!

It was about a polar bear who had polka dots on him and the dots would change colors...anyone have any ideas as to what I'm talking about? It kind of seems like it MIGHT have been a Dr. Seuss type book, but I can't be too sure. It seemed like it was a popular/well-known children's book though.

And the second book is one I read as a child that may not have been so well-known...it was about a maiden who lived in a magical place, and her home was made out of peach-colored crystal...she had long golden hair and she fell in love with a prince, but felt she couldn't have him...so some lady or whoever advised her to weave three strands of hair into a blanket for this prince, etc, etc...and they fell in love and lived happily ever after, of course. I really liked the book as a child.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

I think that there is a great chance of JKR making Harry die in the end. *frowns* Let's hope not. The poor kid needs a freaking break!

I also think that there's a good chance that Peter will betray Voldemort and repay Harry for his betrayal on his parents.

Hermione and Ron will get together. (Although if it was up to me she would end up with Draco. But that's just the fanon in me. Draco/Hermione will always be my OTP)

And I am hoping...that if Harry does make it alright in the end...he ends up with Luna rather than with Ginny!

The possibility of believing in both evolution and religion is heavily discussed topic lately. What is your personal opinion. Does one exclude the other, and if not, what is their convergence point/relationship? What about actual evidence?
