My sister and I remember a book from our childhood that I'd like to find and read to my daughter now...but we can't remember what it was called or who wrote it!

It was about a polar bear who had polka dots on him and the dots would change colors...anyone have any ideas as to what I'm talking about? It kind of seems like it MIGHT have been a Dr. Seuss type book, but I can't be too sure. It seemed like it was a popular/well-known children's book though.

And the second book is one I read as a child that may not have been so well-known...it was about a maiden who lived in a magical place, and her home was made out of peach-colored crystal...she had long golden hair and she fell in love with a prince, but felt she couldn't have him...so some lady or whoever advised her to weave three strands of hair into a blanket for this prince, etc, etc...and they fell in love and lived happily ever after, of course. I really liked the book as a child.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

The first one is "Put Me in the Zoo" by Robert Lopshire. It's definitely Dr. Seuss-esque--I still have my copy from when I was little, next to my copies of "Green Eggs and Ham" and "The Cat in the Hat."

the second one is a folk tale. I remember that my mom read that to us at home. Check a childrens librarian, they should have someone who would know or will research

Lopshre or lopeshire is the name of the author, he is the only one i can think of that writes sorta like Dr. Seuss

I bear in mind a e book concerning to the cat who went to heaven. It watched that's proprietor paint a image of heaven with all varieties of animals yet no cat. while he ultimately painted a cat, it died. Does that sound properly-known?

You might try posting your second book's description (and be sure to include WHEN you and your sister read it, it's a good clue!) on the SurLaLune message board: http://p203.ezboard.com/fsurlalunefairytalesfrm1
