I think everything in life has a way of balancing itself out. Your English may be off, but you have the cultural diversity and experience that someone who was born here may not. As for the persuasive/infuensive factor... I'd say that's more in the personality territory. People generally tend to be persuaded/influenced by those with confidence and direction. A person who lacks in English language skills may seem to lack confidence, so maybe that's where your problem is.

Actually, the fact that you have lived in different lands, and, the fact that you had the character and courage to travel to a strange culture and learn a new language will make you a happier person than most of the people in this country. You are richer for your adventures. One must have adventures and take risks to become wise. Perfect spoken English does not really mean much, in the ways that mean much. Wisdom, not language, makes us happy and healthy. So, what do I think in life that is not fair? That I cannot teach anywhere in the world that I want to. But, that's probably not as much unfair as it is my own lack of character and courage. Mostly, it's because I'm not smart enough to do it, I think, all the details stuff. Like money.

None of the inequalities of life are fair. But since they exist we overcome them and use them to grow as people. Just because English isn't your first language doesn't mean you can't be persuasive or influential. Having good ideas with logic and a heart come first - language can be learned and improved. But the head and heart have to already be developed so when the communication skills catch up, there is something worth actually communicating! Good luck on your endeavors!

All people can find at least one aspect that they dont like about themselves or that they think is unfair. Whilst your statement that a person who has better English skills has an advantage in an English speaking conversation yes they do just as an arabic person would have in an arabic conversation or Egyptian, indonesian etc. However when people learn another language and make the effort to use it people appreciate their efforts and the more you use it the better you become and then you can compete with people who are primarily English speaking.

You think it is unfair that you do not speak English as well as a native speaker? That is the funny thing about fairness...I think it is unfair that you are truly bilingual and I (who had a foreign language minor in college) completely and utterly suck at speaking that language. You had to learn a second language before you were 12 (I'm assuming) so you had a much better opportunity (capacity) to learn that language, and that is wonderful. You should be proud. Your English is great. I always admire people who can communicate in two different cultures over those who are the most prosaic speakers of only one language. That's the thing about fairness....completely subjective to one's own perspective and experience:) I think it is unfair that we do not have mandatory foreign language courses from first grade on in this country.

Do you still speak your native language?. lucky if you do. You always have more advantages if you have a second language. Don't be feeling low if your spoken english is a little bit off. i am pretty sure you really can write good. I bet my life on it =) There are a lot of things that are not fair in regards to segregation.

If you are in an English speaking country then yes, if you do not have sharp English skills then people (although I don't agree) think that it is some measure of your intelligence if you can't clearly get your point across. Just keep practising, see if there some advanced classes you could take........maybe even a public speaking course of some type to advance your skills. I see this with one of my coworkers who is from another country and given the time to gather his thoughts he is quite intelligent with alot of innovative ideas, however because his English still needs work people don't always pay attention to what he has to say.

It is not fair that our governement leaders lie to us and ignore our wishes but still get paid with our tax dollars.
It is not fair that good people get hurt or die too soon.
It is not fair that just to own land and a simple home and put food on the table costs a damn fortune.
I think it is not fair that cigarette companies do not have to pay billions of people for lieing to them back when cigarettes were not deemed harmful.
I think it is not fair that our prison systems has us paying for criminals to do time but they have crappy rehabilitation and do not work back the money we pay to keep them there so we are not helping them or us.
I think it is not fair that a lot of gorgeous natural landscapes in the USA are being sold off and a million housing units are going up that people are making a bundle off of.
I think it is unfair that people cheat on their significant others or spouses and do not care about their feelings.
I think it is unfair when young people marry and have kids too soon and the kids end up suffering.
I think it is unfair that every old person does not have a warm, nice place to live and lots of food and heathcare.
I think it is unfair that a lot of parents teach there kids to be selfish bullies.
I think it is unfair that some people live off welfare their whole lives while they do drugs and hurt others.
I think it is unfair that some religious fanatics will hurt others to push their ideals.
I think it is unfair that this world is unfair!!!!!!
....But I think your english is fine and I think you should be commended for learning another language. I am not fluent in another language so linguistically speaking, you are smarter than me.

But you know what, you can work on your English skills! That is the advantage you have. There are people who manage to sound like they were born here, just from diligence and wanting to be able to speak, read, and write as well as possible.

if we weigh fariness according to human standards, then we say that life is unfair. our personal judgment has been marred by selfishness and predilection to sin. But if we look up to the Just and Holy One, we will realize that He had set all things in accordance with perfect law and order.
life is fair.
and don't worry about your english, it's the content and your sincerity that matter most.
