I have a lacquered wood wall hanging from the 1960s or 1970s. On it is a painting of a woman with her hair blowing in the wind and a butterfly. It is signed, "STOVEKEN". The colors are all shades of brown with black outlines. I have conducted considerable internet research and cannot find out anything about this artist The piece is absolutley beautiful, and I expect that there is more art by this artist out there. I know very little about where the piece was purchased, but it is likely to be from California. The piece was given to me, and I would like to buy another like it. Please help me find out who Stoveken was and where I can find more art by this talented artist.

I will post a link to some pictures of the piece soon.

So, I'm curious why it is that some people in my ballet classes use 'two-part' shoes? There's a toe piece, and a heel piece connected with elastic bands. I hadn't seen them used until I moved states, before all I had ever seen was the traditional ballet slippers. Are these better? What are their selling points? It seems like they would have less arch support than ballet slippers already lack.

Thanks!

I am taking a Children's Literature class and have to read 100 books. Sounds easy, I know. I've got most of them finished, but I still have to read 13 novels by Nov. 30th. I am running out of ideas. Any good (preferrably short) children's novels?

O.J Simpson wrote a book about HOW and WHY he murdered his ex wife and her friend. This crime was so highly publicised, I'm sure SOMEONE will buy the book. This man murdered his children's mother and her innocent friend. By writing this book, I believe he's only opening his children's wounds and pouring salt on them. I WILL NOT buy this book. Will you?

Pretty self explanatory. How do you differentiate what is beautiful from what is ugly? Can this be expressed in words? What is the most beautiful thing in the universe to you?

I have been doing street photograpy for a while now but I have always done it in color and I realize some others have (Helen Levitt's and Esther Bubley's color work for example; or Alex Webb) but it seems most people seem to think that it still has to be done in b&w to be considered "artistic". Examples of my work can be found in the link below.
