Yes, Little Gus, Troy existed. It was on the Northwest coast of what we now call Turkey. Back in 1200 BC it controlled some trade in that area, between the Mediterranean and Black Sea, so it was powerful.

Recent archaeology suggests that maybe the people there were related to the Hittites. They lived in central Turkey. The kingdom of Troy was called Wilusa at the time, which came to be called Ilium. That is why the Homer's famous story about the war there is called the Illiad. Neato!

I always believed it was a true story. I think its simple minded people who just say everything in the past was "a myth". Ancient people were kind of down to earth in my opinion, so if they told a story about people, it was at least based mainly on truth. Nowadays they are seeing that the landscape in Troy back in 1200 BC looked exactly as Homer described. There was a river there, that the Greeks had to cross in the book. It's not there now, but it was there back then.

Troy was a QB for Dallas for several years & my nephews hero as a child. I don't think many people know that Troy also ownes a portion of a Nascar team. Also he dated (Country Music Star)Lorrie Morgan for a short time. You could try www.dallascowboys.com or just do a search on him. You could also do a search on Ebay if interested in purchasing Troy items. Hope this helps you. Have a great night, Debra
