What Shame
By Savannah

All she ate today was a little bit of Jell-o
Just to look right for that one special fellow
You can see she’s happy, you know it for sure
She likes that her outfit is so couture
Yet she doesn’t realize just one thing:
She experiences jealousy, just a slight ping
She says to herself
“God…I’m so fat”
“I really hate my hair…I must wear this hat”
She’s beautiful on the inside, it really is true
She’s extremely pretty, she should have her own style crew
Yet she starves herself in this unholy way
Just so she can tell herself “You look pretty today”
She’s so slim…it really is a shame
And pressure to be thin—it takes the blame
She sees all the movie stars on the T.V.
And she just plain glows with envy
“Why is she like that? Why can’t I be like that?”
“Why am I just so God-damn fat?”
She doesn’t believe she has an eating disorder
When she sees the pretty actors on Law and Order
She thinks “Oh…God…change the channel”
But then it flips to an all-girl panel
“I hate myself…no dinner for me”
But why….why can’t she just see?
She’s not fat…she’s underweight, to say the truth
You’ll never see a morsel of food pass that tooth

Why is it that most Greek and Roman statues of naked men have survived almost intact but have their penises missing? Were they wacked off (no pun intended) by later religious zelots or Victorian prudes or was it an inheritantly weak point of the artwork?

I'm talking about the hardcover first edition, first printings of all three. The Drawing of the Three And The Wastelands were only about $75, but Wizard and Glass was about $250.

This will be my last question. I find many of the ideas and discussions on this forum so hate-filled it's depressing.
However, I would like to know why it is neccessary to destroy a country and kill more than 200,000 people who had nothing to do with it to avenge the deaths of 2000. I'm not sure of the numbers, but the ratio is about right 100:1.

It is not pleasing to think so, yet it is undeniable that warfare is an integral part of humankind's heritage. And after thousands of years of practice, we are very, very good at it.

Why do people Judge people they have never meet in person, they judge them by what they read and hear.... Like people judge me because I'm 17 and have a 3 year old. Are you me? do You live my life? Do you go through everything I go through? No! so why judge? Why do people judge? Some one please tell me cause I dont understand, is it because people get joy out of it, or is it addictive, a habit? What is your reason for judging someone?

If science could PROVE there was no God would all theists give up their beliefs?

On the other-hand, if God was proven to exist and that every word of the bible was absolutely true, would us atheists take up worship?

Please don't argue, "but you can't prove God exists or not", this is a purely hypothetical question. Imagine that absolute proof was given. Well, would you?

And with OUR free will, that means we are capable of making wrong decisions and sin, so can God give US something he himself can't or doesn't possess, like free will? And if God DOES have free will, does that mean that HE is also capable of making wrong decisions?

What do you think of this summary.

2006-09-10 05:29:01 · 7 answers · asked by Anonymous in Philosophy

when a mere human neglects things or makes mistakes, we are "wrong"?

For instance, a lot of people try to say God is "neglectful" by looking at how screwed up the world is today, but the religious followers say it's because "God isn't concerned with those things" or "he's trying to teach us a lessson", but when real people make mistakes, or are neglectful, or make bad decisions, we end up in jail, tickets, fines, abuse, and so on, so OBVIOUSLY in OUR world those thigns were WRONG, so why is it ok for GOD to get away with everything and it's RIGHT and JUSTIFIED?

From childhood's hour I have not been
As others were; I have not seen
As others saw; I could not bring
My passions from a common spring.
From the same source I have not taken
My sorrow; I could not awaken
My heart to joy at the same tone;
And all I loved, I loved alone.
Then- in my childhood, in the dawn
Of a most stormy life- was drawn
From every depth of good and ill
The mystery which binds me still:
From the torrent, or the fountain,
From the red cliff of the mountain,
From the sun that round me rolled
In its autumn tint of gold,
From the lightning in the sky
As it passed me flying by,
From the thunder and the storm,
And the cloud that took the form
(When the rest of Heaven was blue)
Of a demon in my view.
