Does anyone know of any good books about troubled teens? Books about teens in crises, drug addiction, alcohol, eating disorders, child abuse etc... I am a case manager for at risk teens and youth and would like to let my kids read books about kids that went through the same things that they are going through so they do not feel so alone. thanls

Hi,

I have seen that some people have mental obstacles while others just move along life without worryieng about anything mentally.

I have discovered that being shy and insecure are some of the most common mental obstacles people fight againts when trying to accomplish something. Could this be true?

Do you think it is easier for people to overcome this obstacles? Does everybody in this world have them? Are these obstacles created from childhood?

Take care!

There are two girls, one disapearing, a ship on the sea that you can see through a door, a mirror with a note, ice figures, and a hot air balloon with plants in it on the left side. I think the title is in french, but translated it means something like, " in the spaces of the memory". I can't remember!!

She already loves fantasy books like Harry Potter, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, Eragon, Aretemis Fowl, etc.. I'm looking for a new series to start her on. Any recommendations? Don't hold back, she's read a lot of stuff and I'm hoping to find something she hasn't already read.

Hi again!

If you could be given the chance of living your life again, what could you change about your life in the most helpful way?

When we are young we don't think about the future and what the destiny might bring for us. Today, I stop and think for a split second and realized that if I could go back I would make more mistakes to learn from them but would that be helpful at all?

I talk to people at times and they say that in life there is no right or wrong, that you are what you are because of the mistakes you made and influences you had.... but if we belive in this, would our lifves be better, satisfied, content?

It is hard to get older and realized that you have made really bad choices in your life. There is no way we can go back and change anything but if we could would it make any difference? you would not know for sure... would you?

Take care!

i've searched e-bay and online "discount" stores, but all of them are either really expensive or the shipping is astronomical.
is there any solution? do tailoring places ever have old dress forms? i'm not looking for an antique one, i'm looking for a useable one, but it doesn't have to be state-of-the-art. the brand new designer-house ones i've seen, even from "wholesale" or "discount" places are still between $600 and $900. yikes! eek!
HELP!!!!

Why do authors use pen names when they write? Do they not want the credit?

There's an article in the current issue of Seventh Hour Blues (a music magazine that also does articles on the arts) that shows how a recently discovered photo of van Gogh is very, very similar to many of his self portraits. The article posits that he used a camera lucida (or some other optical device) to use the photo as a basis for his self portraits. Do you think this is likely? Have you heard this theory?

it should take about 5 minutes. i am a huge fan, have read most of his books, and own copies of quite a few, so there's no need to quote the whole thing at me, just tell me what book it's in and whereabouts in the plot, along with the first line or so. i am so swamped i really have no time to go through my choices without help, so i appreciate your input.
