the arabic phrase, meaning "O Guide!" can produce spiritual experiences which are closely paralleled to Jesus' words about the Spirit of Truth in John 7-15, and in the writings of Idries Shah ,concerning the awakening of subtle centers of power in the body,{arabic: lataif} in the form of a cosmic cross: right and left breasts, forehead and navel. This is accompanied by hearing the inner sound{the OM, the Shabda, etc.} and hearing the word Hoo! in the ether of the outside world. It is apparently the organ of guidance in its purest form, and these experiences are similarly reported in other traditions, such as in the Don Juan books, and some writings of early Christians, etc., etc. The implicit meaning is that one's world is shattered,i.e. ones ego-constructs, and is subjected to the transforming effect of this higher, essentialized root of one's self. This all seems to correspond to the lore concerning the mysteries of the unpronouncable name of God,YHVH. Anyone care to comment?
