1) Art is an interpretation and/or an appreciation of a created object, whether a mark in the sand, on a cave or on a canvas, or a pile of stones or a marble sculpture. 2) Life cannot help but change its environment in some way. That leaves open the possibility that someone may discover markings and appreciate them and/or the maker. Art certainly cannot exist without life, but life (and I will now limit this discussion to human life) cannot help but make things that at some point in their existence will be interpreted or appeciated for what it is not. (If the mark is a scratch but was not intended to be a representation or interpretation, it is only a scratch,. But if that scratch was made with the ourpose of representing something else, or being seen as something else, then it has taken on the at least one of the attributes of art. So, life cannot exist without making art. It certainly can exist without interpreting markings but very unlikely. since we cannot even look at the sky without seeing mythological figures (constellations),or faces in the clouds. Our nature is to make order out of chaos...so we are always interpreting and appreciating.

What kind of life would it be? Would you want to live it? I know I wouldn't since I write stories and paint, etc.. To me, it would be drab and with no passion.
