My all-time favorite, and inspiration, is Chuck Close. I especially love the series of paintings he did of Lucas, with the wood-cut of Emma my second favorite.
Chuck Close is a current artist, working out of Manhatten, New York. He was already a famous artist, experimenting with a new technique, when a blood clot damaged his cervical spine during a violent seizure, leaving him a quadriplegic. He had to re-teach himself to paint, using a device that he straps to his arm. His work consists of portraits of himself, family and friends, and is often produced in a very large scale (7 by 9 feet).
If you haven't seen any of his work, you should definitely check it out! You'll be amazed.......

Edouard Manet's Bar at the Folies Bergere

There was always some debate about what Manet's intent was, and what the viewer was looking at. Some argued it was a mirror, and the viewer is actually the man in the top hat, while others said that the perspective was such that it had to be a second woman. Also, I have always loved impressionism.

Starry Night series. I love the concept of the universe whirling and think I can sometimes feel the confusion and madness overtaking him. How driven and passionate he must have been!
I love his florals for freer form and the color, the color! Favorite is a toss up , Iris in a White Vase or Sunflowers & Roses.

Salvador Dali is one of my favorites. First and foremost, his work is just fascinating. It's so interesting and amazing. You can interpret it anyway you want to. His works remind me of dreams, and since I'm a dreamer, this works for me. Not to mention, the boldness of the colors he uses are just awesome!
