I am always arguing my point, that music is any sound that begins and ends. I also argue that the medium of technology by which the music is created nor the original source of the creative process has no forbearence on the song being musical. As technological advances increase, so will the method of performing and composing music. If you understand and appreciate music in its entirety and are aware of avant garde composers like George Crumb and John Cage, then why do so many people state that electronica (house, ambient, DnB, trance, etc) is not music?

Philosophy is the study of humans and the world by thinking and asking questions. It is not part of science, because it is not an observation of things in the real world to find out how they work. Philosophy tries to answer important questions by coming up with answers about real things and asking "why.

what are your thoughts?

Read with interest the 'bloodiest war' question and agree that WW2 is in a (tragic) league of its own. Was wondering if there are bigger historical wars that had a bigger impact on the populations sizes of the participants. Possibly this is where WW1 comes into its own but I'm sure there are many others I'm ignorant of.
