Cro-Magnons simply were the oldest modern humans lived in Europe in the Upper Paleolithic era. They were very much similar to modern humans except for one distinctive feature: their brains were about 4% larger than that of modern humans. Despite that fact, many scientists believe that they were simply the earliest modern humans and that we are all descendents of the Cro-Magnons. They were credited to the extinction of the Neanderthals.

You cannot believe in evolution and be a Christian, since they are two totally separate beliefs. Evolution is a theory that says there was no creator, only that everything evolves or becomes something else after a long period of time, whereas Christianity believes there is a supreme God, who created everything and there is no such thing as evolution. As to your question, cro-magnons is a derogatory slang term for the first humans on the earth. They were survivors, with large brain capacities, enabling them to remember generations of important information to their survival, such as what they could eat and what was dangerous to them. Humans today have no need for remembering all that, so their brains are tiny in comparison. Also, most humans today could not survive if everything they lived with was destroyed. Thank God for the few humans who still carry a little "cro-magnon " in their genes!

Hmm. My old high-school textbook (not American) stated that genetically modern humans are cro-magnons. So all the difference is spiritual, unless I miss some important biological discovery in recent years.

Sharptooth,

your answer is the most rediculous thing I've read in a long time!

Was it hard work coming up with such an ignorant answer?

Evolution in no way contradicts ANY religion.

Secondly, Cro mangnom man is NOT a derogatory word -it is a early form of man.

You can't be a Christian and believe in Evolution.
A Cro-Magnon was created by the Devil to help kill off some of
the dinosaurs as were other cavemen and dinosaurs.
Modern man was createed by GOD.

They did have slightly bigger brains and better physiques (though the latter was probally just down to them having a harder life). The main difference was in their thought processes really. They existed for quite a while before taking the leap to becoming modern humans.

i believe that Cro-Magnons were early Homo Sapiens. What made them diverse from the Neanderthals changed into their ability to seek and deliver jointly products in communities which made scarce the nutrients and products the Neanderthal needed yet couldn't locate on my own and outnumbered by ability of the Cro-Magnons? i do not comprehend and may no longer also be commenting.
