The scripts which make up the bible are 1 part history and 1 part parables.
Obviously, mankind originated somewhere, sometime.
The question of Adam and Eve then becomes one of whether they were the first human form entities to walk the earth, or if they are representative of mankind's origins.
It's similar to the question people contemplate about how long it took "God" to create the heavens, earth, animals, plants, land, water...etc.
"On the first day, God created the Heavens and the earth".
Think about that statement - our day is 24 hours long, because that is how long it takes for the earth to make one revolution. A day on Saturn is only 10 hours, because it revolves very fast. But if the earth had *not* been created yet, what reference is there for how long a day is? That's why I don't believe God's "Day" equals our 24 hour day. The first day could be any increment other than 24 hours, because the earth was being created, and not in existence, and rotating at a rate of 24 hours per revolution.
So if the Bible can be taken more philosophical as opposed to literal, Adam and Eve could be the philosphical representation of the initial makings of mankind. The Garden of Eden, could actually be a celestial place, and not a physical place on earth. (Again, it's the problem of people taking the Bible literally).
So yes, I believe that Adam and Eve are representative of the origins of mankind. Precisely what form they were, is what is debatable, and likely not able to be answered.

I, for one, do not need any other reasons to believe that Adam and Eve existed. Also, religions do not say that they existed, God does and His word, the Bible. Religions are something that humans put together, Christianity is something that God put together.
If you really want to know if Adam and Eve actually existed, and you don't want to go by what the Bible says, then start studying your archeology! Archaeologists and other scientists have already irrevocably proven that all humans come from one set of humans. The only thing they have wrong is how long ago it was.

You all nonetheless be stricken by shame, envy, hatred, worry, mendacity, etc., purely as Adam and Eve did. study Genesis lower back, forget approximately the intercourse custom (that's a stupid interpretation of the 1st e book), and study up slightly on Aramaic idioms of the term. the myth has an extraordinarily particular meaning, actual understood in the figures of speech of the time and way of existence. instead we undertaking cutting-part and Western concepts onto it and sweetness why we don't comprehend it or why it style of feels so stupid? we are the single's that are stupid. that's style of a team of eastern businessmen working to the window with the aid of fact they study in a Western newspaper that fluctuate into going to rain "cats and canines" and arranged for the animals to start falling. tutor yourselves, human beings. that's exciting.

The same is true with ghosts and supernatural beings where some people believe and yet they are no evidence to prove of their existence.
