I have just started writing an independant blog/advice column for pregnancy/parenting/family issues and my readership is still kind of low. I know a part of it is because the page itself is still new, but I was wondering if part of the reason for the low numbers is because I do not have a psychology degree.

Do you think that people are less likely to take advice from someone who does not have a diploma in a related field, or do you think people appreciate "mom-to-mom" advice and I just haven't gotten enough exposure yet?

Hi.

My wife is 12 weeks pregnant, but yesterday we went to get an ultrasound and were told that the baby had no heart beat. We were worried and had another internal ultrasound but still the same result. No heart beat. The Midwife said that the baby stopped growing at 8 weeks and that my wife had a miscarriage. But there is no bleeding etc. Please tell me it isn't so, because both her and I are very upset.

I'm dating this guy who is controlling, but I've developed feelings for someone else. I'm 28 and he's 20, we have a good connection. We are very good with communication, compatibility, compassion, being open about everything and we don't hold anything back when something is bothering either of us. Is it wrong that I was with a man for 6 years that's 29 and now I've met someone who's great to me who's 20? He makes me happy, he adores my son and my son adores him. We are so connected in so many ways and on so many levels. For a 20 year old, he's really mature about relationships and he's really patient and is willing to wait for me. I really care about this guy, but in the back of my mind, I keep asking myself if this is right? It's a big age gap, but I've been told that his age is just a number and it's how we feel about each other and if we make one another happy. Neither of us are looking for anything seriou, we just want to be together but I'm afraid that I'll be frowned on for this.

i started having my period when i was 11 and now i am 15, and my period is still irregular (i think it came on time ONCE, but that is it), its not like its just always late like it comes every 3 months instead of every month, but it is just kind of random and i never know when it is gonna show. i have rased the topic with the doctor before (i think last year) and he said its normal for a girl my age, but isnt it supposed to be for how long youve had your period, not how old you are? i am still a virgin so it cant be anything sexually related. i do want to have kids in the future. will it still be possible?

A friend and I were thinking about how to approach the following problem:

Given a 3-dimensional cubic grid ([1,7] x [1,7] x [1,7]) in discrete coordinates (343 points total), we want to pick a small number of points in the grid so that *every* point in the grid can be reached from one of the chosen points by traveling along at most 3 unit line segments.

In other words, we want a minimal covering of the grid by octahedra of radius 3. Each octahedron can cover 25 points, so it's clear that at least 14 will be required, but I suspect that overlap will increase that number by a few.

Any ideas about how to go about solving this?
