1. The speed of light is 3 x 10(to the) 8 (th power~ scientific notation) meters/sec. How long does it take light to travel the 149 x 10 (to the) 9 (th power) meters distance from the sun to the earth?

2. A driver starts his parked car and within 5 seconds reaches a velocity of 54 km/hr as he travels east. What is the acceleration?

Ok, i was little bit confused about when u write off equipment
For example:
lets say i bought a machine, for 100$, i would ,debit equipment and credit cash, then after some time the machine got depreciated with no salvage value, so at this point i would write, Accumilated dep. debit this 100 and credit equipment for 100, but how does the expenss register????? i though acum dep. is a contra asset account, not and expense account, or is it?

If the Sun becomes a red giant that has a radius 100 times larger than its current radius and a luminosity 1000 times its current luminosity, what will its surface temperature be? (Use the Stefan-Boltzmann equation and solve for T).

If we made a model of the Milky Way that had the diameter of the Earth, how big would the Earth itself be in this shrunken model? (Assume that the Milky Way's diameter is 50 kpc for this problem.)

Given that the Sun moves in a circular orbit of radius 8 kiloparsecs around the center of the Milky Way, and its orbital speed is 220 kilometers per second, work out how long it takes the Sun to complete one orbit of the galaxy.

I live in Southern Cali (I have no car folks, lost my car in a car accident in 2003) and I had to start working somehow. So, I started tutoring to make a few dollars come in...less than $200 a month.

I was told from H&R Block that if a single person earsn less than 6K or 5K a year, then that person does not have to report those earnings to the IRS. What happens if you earn $180 a month-or 2K a year?

What about unemployment? What will they say? it's not like I'm rolling in the dough and I don't have my own transportation. Yes--I'm looking into car pooling, but-that is a different question.

If you want to criticize me-please do it some place else. I didn't come on this to get that.

I've been dating this guy for several weeks and he asked if I want to have children. Do you think that means that he's serious about me? I usually think of that as something a woman brings up.

Also, he told me about a dream he had about me. He seemed reluctant to share all of it, but he said that we were driving a minivan (which seems like the sort of car you'd drive when you're a family)!
