I already posted this but got not even one good response.

I live in Rhode Island and I want to buy a Beagle. How much is the average price for a Beagle if you want to buy/adopt it from a breeder? Last time I asked this almost every person said $50. I'm looking for more realistic answers.

most people were right, they average around 50 to 100, i live in north carolina, & you can get them very reasonable here too, i used to live in rhody too , go to the pound , or a beagle rescue, im sure you will be happy, & save a life, happy hunting!!

Actually you can find Beagles for less than a lot of breeds, and can find some nice ones for around the $500 figure.
Just keep in mind that normally there is a difference between show and field Beagles. So know what you want when you start looking.

Depends on your area. Have you looked at the breed club in your area, talked with vets or anything? Are there any shows in your area? It's a good way to meet breeders and get more of a sence of who's a good and bad breeder and you get more of an idea of the breed. If you really want a nicely bred dog, they are going to be spendy, but you are getting a quality bred dog.

You may also check into rescues. You can often times find puppies who have been dumped. Or a little older dog who has nowhere to call home.

You want to find a reputable breeder who does genetic testing, proves their dogs in conformation or some other dog sport and takes good care of their dogs. I agree that $50 is no where near what a good quality dog would be. I would say they could be about $300 and up for a good pup. Good luck in your search!

This is going to be dependent upon what type of breeder you find. I would research reputable breeders that show them in AKC....go to a dog show locally and talk to them. They will tell you more than you care to know as they LOVE their breed!!! LOL

Most breeders put much time and effort into raising the best that they can...so expect to be "grilled" about your home environment. As a general rule a "pet quality" dog will run anywhere from $300+ depends on the area ....I have seen beagles sold for more than $2000! However you can find them on a more realistic $ figure. so look for about $300 to $400.

Depends on whether you want to go to a "make a buck and who cares about the dog" backyard or "hobby" breeder, in which case you would probably get swindled for about $500.

Or you could go to a responsible breeder who has done their research and their testing and pay probably around $800 - $1200.

Alternately, you could go to your local shelter and adopt one of the thousands of beagles that are dumped annually (because they are such a popular breed and tons of people go to the backyard breeders and don't realize what they're getting into so it's easier to dump the dog than to take responsibility for it) for about $50.

You could also go to http://www.petfinder.com and find a beagle rescue near you, adopt from them and save a life for about $250-$300.

I have a Pure Breed Beagle and they can run atleast $250 ranging to what ever the seller wants make sure they are registered full blooded before you pay that much for one though. Or you could go to the SPCA puppies are $150.00 adults are $75.00. Adults are 2 years and older.

PLEASE do NOT buy a BEAGLE!!!! Dog pounds in MANY MANY states (mainly TN, KY, AR, AL, VA & WV, GA, OH) inhumanely kill the surplus od adoptable hound dogs, mainly Beagles. Beagles that don't hunt for whatever reason are disgarded like trash and gassed to death in these states. I have run transports for 8 years saving mainly Beagles. If you want a purebred Beagle, contact me directly @ capemay72@yahoo.com and I will find one for you FOR FREE.
