(I don't believe in the Christian God, this is for arguments sake)

If God is all-powerful why wouldn't he stop the worst evils from happening, such as the development of disease causing bacteria, or viruses, or famine?

The free will argument just doesn't work. If God is all-good, and all knowing, there should be a point he'd know when to say "alright, I have to come in and put a stop to this".

Why would God put an evil person's free-will above the happiness of a lot of good people?

In these serious situations, if there's an all powerful all knowing being that doesn't do anything, doesn't that make them evil by lack of action?

I am a 25 year old mother, and my daughter will turn 3 in 2 months. My friends tell me that she should know how to recite her alphabet and numbers at this age. She knows colors, and she repeats her abc's with me. I have taught her shapes and she can point to them and say them. I set aside time each day for us to practice her alphaber and numbers, but she can't say them on her own. She reconizes some of them when she sees them. I read to my daughter every day, but people tell me that she should be starting to read the books on her own. I am feeling guilty because if she isn't doing these things it is because I am not teaching her enouph. She is a smart child and I don't see any signs of her being a slow learner. How do I know if she is learning enouph? Her doctor never really ask me how well she is learning things like this. My husband and I spend alot of time with her and try to teach her as much as we can. How do I know if she is learning quickly enouph

How many isomers (including all stereoisomers) exist for dibromopentadiene?

No, you do not have to draw out every single one. It is using the 2^n formul, where n=chiral centers along with subtraction for meso structures. I know you also have to factor in cis and trans possibilities with the structures as well.

I thought I'd put this in the right category, since I screwed up before.

My new girlfriend and I are about to spend our first Chritstmas together. We've both been married and recently D'd, we've been seeing each other exclusively since July, and it's pretty serious. I'm skipping my own family's T-day dinner for her's.
Here's my problem . . .
I don't want to get into that mundane plotting Christmas gifts and their costs, let's cap our spending, make me a list of what you want? To me that's the behavior of a stale relationships. But at the same time I also want avoid the feelings of guilt that come with giving too much or too little. I quess that's why we put those stale practices into play, I understand that.
But, that's not really a solution is it?
So I ask the public (you) for your input.
How far does one go on an occation such as this? I'm not going to buy her a BMW, but money isn't the issue. I want to shower her with gifts but I don't want either of us to come away with the feeling that we could of, or should of done better.
Suggestions...?

A capstan is a rotating drum or cylinder over which a rope or cord slides to provide a great amplification of the rope's tension while keeping both ends free
http://session.masteringphysics.com/problemAsset/1006856/15/36898.jpg
Since the added tension in the rope is due to friction, the capstan generates thermal energy.

A)
If the difference in tension (T_0-T') between the two ends of the rope is 520 N and the capstan has a diameter of 10.0 cm and turns once in 0.90 seconds, find the rate P_thermal at which thermal energy is being generated.
Give a numerical answer, in watts, rounded to the nearest 10 W.

B)
If the capstan is made of iron (with a specific heat capacity C=470 J/(kg C) and has a mass of 6.00 kg, at what rate dTheta/dt does its temperature rise? Assume that the temperature in the capstan is uniform and that all the thermal energy generated flows into it.

Note that Theta is a temperature.
Give answer in degrees Celsius.
