I don't believe it is. And I don't think that evolution is valid either. So I want you to come up with a few reasons why global warming is not a serious issue, with out reference to evolution or how old the earth is. I have to write a paper on this.

About 94% of Americans (more or less) believe in some sort of God or deity. Now, they may not all be of the same religion, and they may be very diverse, but when was the last time we have gotten 94% of the population to agree on anything?

Since so many are believers, it seems like people have an innate need and desire to have a higher being in their lives. What does that tell you?

Oh, and I'm an agnostic.

Army statistics released this week show the number of desertions rose in the four years before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America prompted the Bush administration's war on terrorism. Desertions then fell for three years but they have been rising steadily again in the last three years as the increasingly unpopular campaign in Iraq has worn on.

Even with the recent increases, less than 1 percent of the Army's active duty force of 507,000 soldiers desert, according to Army data. That compares with 3.4 percent of the 1971 force that fought the Vietnam war, Maj. Anne Edgecomb, an Army spokeswoman, said Tuesday.

And even with a sizable boost in the rate of prosecutions, the overwhelming majority of cases still are handled through administrative discharge. Some 5 percent of cases go to trial, Edgecomb said.

"The three primary reasons deserters cite for their actions are dissatisfaction with military life, family problems and homesickness," she said.

Catholics, you all know that Jesus the Good Shepherd left us an earthly shepherd, Peter and the popes, when He told Peter: "..feed my lambs.. ..feed my sheep" (John 21:15-17).

But, did you know that your earthly shepherd sends you letters? That's right: YOU'VE GOT MAIL !! Have you been reading your mail?

No? Well, a letter from the pope to you is called an "encylical". For example, here is one of the latest letters the pope wrote to you. called "Deus Caritas Est" (On Christian Love - God is Love) :
http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/encyclicals/documents/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20051225_deus-caritas-est_en.html

One of my favorites by John Paul II is "Redemptor Hominus" (Redeemer of Man):

You can serch many more here:

So, brothers and sisters, isn't it time to check your mail box?

does being open-minded mean you should keep asking the same question over and over again? i keep seeing these questions asking how open-minded atheists are. atheists are people just like everyone else. some lie, some are honest. some are greedy, some give all they can. is the sole basis for someone being open-minded whether or not they accept the existence of a god as being fact? there's a difference between looking at the different aspects of religion and making a decision, and just blindly making a decision. and just as there are christians who do one or the other, there are atheists as well who do one or the other. i'm sure there are many atheist who just accept there is no god, just as there are many christian who accept there is a god, without question. however, if you were to ask an atheist who hasn't considered the possibility of a god, i doubt you'd get as many close-minded responses as you would from christians who haven't considered the possibility of no god.
