Private servers are against Blizzards TOS. It can possibly cost you your account with them if they detect you playing on one.

Private servers do not pay a fee to Blizzard or they would have some kind of tag on their sites (if they have a web site) that shows it was approved by Blizzard. Blizzard does not condone private servers in any way and in fact is one of the only game companies to sucessfully win a court case against a private server.

1. Yes; they're completely separate from the real game. You won't be taking your current character with you to a private server, you'll be creating a new one.

2. You build one, or you find someone who's willing to let you log in. (This is illegal.)

3. Non-existent lag, if your Internet connection is okay; the only other people there are NPCs and people who are invited to the server. If the person hosting the server has computer issues, however, you could get disconnected.

4. I can't answer; private servers which are made public are illegal, and you can be banned from the real game.

No, private servers that your thinking of are "NOT" illegal. They pay blizzard a large fee per month to host these servers.

All you do to join a private server is registrar on there web page and change your realmist.wtf file to connect to there server. And yes you easly can convert back to the original wow

Here is a list of some of the best private servers around, http://www.xtremetop100.com/world-of-warcraft

As for lag issues and disconnections it depends on the server your using, for any in the top 10 (from the website listed above) usualy suffers from this issue very mildly

I have been playing on this server called Eternal-WoW, it has a 255LvL Fun Realm, blizzlike realm, Instant 80 realm, and much more. I have never found another server better than this, it has a lot of custom items and thousands of players online, and tons of active servers always online to help you. It is the best private server I have played!

Dude, that is really bad. You really shouldnt go to private servers because they will shutdown your account and ban your IP address, best to just play fair... unless your completely done with the game and really dont want to play anymore.
