My fiance recently began visiting a psychologist. He has only been to 3 or 4 appointments so far. His psychologist hasn't diagnosed him with anything for sure yet, but first seemed to think he was bipolar and had an anxiety disorder. Now, she believes that he may have ADHD. However, neither of her possible diagnosis sounds very accurate to me. Is it reasonable for her to assess him with such disorders when she sees him for only a hour 2 days a month? I know I'm not a certified practitioner, but I am familiar with bipolar and ADHD disorders and symptoms. I'm sure some psychologists really help people, but a lot of times I feel they may intentionally over diagnosis patients for the money. I don't believe either of these disorders apply to my fiance as I am familiar with his behavior. I have been with him for 2 years, and none of the symptoms relate to any problems he has. I do believe he has a type of anxiety problem, but the rest of her suggestions seem like garbage to me. Am I overreacting or has anyone else been in a situation where they felt the doctor was misdiagnosing? Not only this, but it is affecting the way he feels about himself. I think it may be making him worse! Please help!
