a 20g pellet is fired into a 200g wooden block initially at rest on a horizontal surface.
the block slides 5.1m before stopping.
the friction coefficient μ is 0.7 between block and surface.
what was the pellet's speed just before impact?

im having trouble with this because the only momentum questions i have ever done are the ones where at least one velocity is given, so i'm struggling here.

my thoughts on it are its something to do with kinetic energy, energy lost due to friction etc, and i worked out the pellet's speed on impact is 11x that of the pellet-block combination when it moves off after impact.

i dont care about the final answer really, just the method of finding it.

I just have a few questions. I am a sophomore in High school and really want a Macbook pro. But I mainly will need it for College, but I don't know if it will be out of date by then? I cannot wait any longer and was planning on getting one once the new MBP models come out if they do. I was just wondering does Apple release a new OS every year? Do they release new models every year? Like I said I cannot stand it any longer and planning on getting one next year. When i am a Junior. But I will be using it for a lot of things between now and college, but by the time I go to college will it be out of date? it will be 2.4GHz 160GH HDD 5400RPM 15". But no clue what models they will have next year.

I believe in Jesus' return and that it will happen within my lifetime. It will be a literal, visual, audiable return, everyone will know it is happening. There will be no secret rapture as some think. Are you ready to meet Him when He returns in the Clouds of Heaven?

Serious question, guys!!!

Ok, I had a really good friend kill himself a couple years ago, and I've been borderline suicidal for most of my life (not because of that). I know a lot of people think committing suicide is selfish, but looking from that person's point of view, do you really agree? I'd never actually commit suicide because I know how much it would hurt my friends, but do you think it's kind of selfish of that person's friends and family to make them continue living a life of suffering? And I'm not talking about someone who had one bad thing happen to them and decided the easiest way to deal with it would be suicide or someone who's only doing it for attention.

I'm honestly curious about what other people think about this, so I don't want any funny responses or people telling me not to kill myself. I'm not, so don't.

In my science class, my science group consists of me and the two most obnoxious boys you could find. They're smart people, but they won't work! My teacher gives us classtime to work and all they do is talk. I'm getting so fed up with them! We get really behind on our projects and I end up taking them home and doing them alone. These boys are completely capable of helping me do the projects, but they won't. I've tried reasoning with them, yelling at them (not in a mean way), and I don't know what else to do!! Help me!

If I go on a Fruit diet (Fruit Juice, Fruit Smoothies) Also Vegi juice and Water. Pretty much a Liquid diet. And worked out 2-3 hours a day, 6 days a week. Could I have a skinny body in 6-9 weeks? Im also taking Vitamins.
