I just have a few questions. I am a sophomore in High school and really want a Macbook pro. But I mainly will need it for College, but I don't know if it will be out of date by then? I cannot wait any longer and was planning on getting one once the new MBP models come out if they do. I was just wondering does Apple release a new OS every year? Do they release new models every year? Like I said I cannot stand it any longer and planning on getting one next year. When i am a Junior. But I will be using it for a lot of things between now and college, but by the time I go to college will it be out of date? it will be 2.4GHz 160GH HDD 5400RPM 15". But no clue what models they will have next year.

Well, it will be out of date, if you mean as far as the latest and greatest around... Apple tends to make newer and better systems constantly. However, people still get along just fine with G3's and G4's, I even see some blue and whites around.

As far as getting a new one, it will last you quite a while, since OS X isn't highly demanding as far as resources like Windows. As far as a new OS, Well, they put one out about every 3 years or so, but they keep improving it. Anyways, you should be good for a while, they make sure that it is compatible with almost everything that is in use. Leopard is still compatible with 8 year old systems :)

All computers are out of date five minutes after you buy them. If you worry about that you'll never get one. Apple will be with OS 10.x for quite a few years yet.
Just don't forget to budget for the Windows disk so you can install it on the Mac along with OSX. You have to buy that separately.
The computer I travel with is a five year old Toughbook, and as long as I don't try to edit HD movies or play the latest high powered games with it, it works just fine on everything.

The Air makes use of Flash reminiscence and not an SSD via the way. I went with the 15" professional because of the fact i wanted an inner diskpersistent and a greater useful CPU. i like it and that i comprehend I made the main suitable determination. additionally remember the Intel pictures scales as you place greater RAM interior the equipment. At 4GB you have 384MB and at 8GB you have 512MB. yet another factor for the pro is which you will set up a SSD or Hybridpersistent in case you like to and set up yet another HDD as against the diskpersistent.
