I am currently looking at colleges, either a 4-year (public or private) or possibly a community college. I already have most of my college paid for with the help of my parents if I wanted to go away, but I would probably still have some student loans. If I stayed home I would save a lot of money and would not have to take out any student loans, allowing me to further invest the money currently set aside for college. If I worked 30-40 hours a week at around $10-15/hr along with attending classes would it be wise/acceptable to purchase a $20-25k car? I will have some other expenses along with the monthly car payments, but I won't have rent or anything since I will be living at home.

When I told my grandmother I wasn't an African American at the dinner table I was nearly slapped she got so mad. But what I consider myself is a Black American. My ancestors may have been from Africa, but I am not, nor has anyone in my family for many many generations. I have some friends who are "straight out of Africa" and they get offended when a Black American calls themselves an African American because they aren't. Then you have to consider all the scholarships and other things out there for "African Americans", do they mean all people with brown skin or all African Americans because there are a lot of white Africans who have come to this country to live. Isn't Charlize Theron an African American? Wouldn't a white African American be just as qualified for these things as black African Americans? I think we need to change the term from African American to Black American, or better yet, just American!

My stepson recently moved in with us and we have 2 complete Playstation 1 systems. I have NO idea how to set them up. They both have the same cords, the power and the 3 plugs (red, yellow, and white). I tried to plug one into the living room VCR because it had the color-coded holes. I tried hitting TV/VCR and I get a black VIDEO screen. Does the VCR power need to be on? Channel 3 sound right? This is buggin' me. What am I doing wrong? I feel like I must be missing something. Please help *puppydogeyes* And, No, we aren't upgrading to PS2 or 3, we have 2 perfectly good PS1's. :) I guess I am old school.
