what are some good independent colleges besides the UCs that offer good science program (biology/chem) in California?

how about pepperdine university? Notre Dame de namur University? Loloya marymount univeristy?

I'm at Loyola Marymount, and I know that our bio and chem faculty have a good reputation and a good record of getting those who want to into medical school. I'm not too familiar with science programs at the other schools, so I'll reserve my opinion.

depends what exactly you want to major in. you should look up collegeboard.com and research the colleges you would prefer based on your interests and majors that you want to pursue in . they have all the information right there. btw, although UC's are good schools, they are somewhat overrated.
For chemistry, UOP (univ of the pacific ) is a great independent school in stockton. thats where i plan to go to . good luck

Those are good; the Claremont-McKenna colleges are good (there are a couple all near each other)--and in a BEAUTIFUL area.
