The books with (r) next to them are the ones I've read myself.

Ernest Hemingway - The Old Man and the Sea (r)

Ernest Hemingway - To Have and Have Not

Graham Greene - Brighton Rock (r)

Graham Greene - The Heart of the Matter

Vladamir Nabokov - Laughter in the Dark (r)

The ones I've read, I have loved. But what is your opinion?

Have you read anything else by these writers?

What exactly is a cowboy?

Did cowboys really existed or did they only exist in the movies? Are you considered a cowboy only if you ride horses and carry revolvers?

Do cowboys still exist today?

Why do some people so unkindly brand George W Bush a cowboy? Why is it other people are not branded as such? Is it also true just because you are an American, you are a cowboy?

ok heres EXACTLY what happened the other day. My boyfriend first, washed his penis, then washed his hands, dried them, put the condom on while pinching it on the top so theres no air inside, and after a minute it put it inside me, i got one and then he took it out, HE DID NOT SHOOT.

But as a girl does, i worry about pregnancy, even before my period and iv had no sex (you know how it is girls).

Im worried now cos im most likely fertile.
If we did this and he didnt ***, shoot in side one bit ( plus the condom wasnt broken) Could i get pregnant from this?

i got a message from him on facebook last night, the first i've heard from him since he cancelled our date last week. It just said hi, how have things been? ok the way i see it I've got 3 options here: 1) ignore it, thereby showing him i think he's behaved badly and i don't want anything to do with him 2) answer in a completely normal, friendly way as though nothing's happened and i'm not bothered by what he did, or 3) ask him what happened, why his tone changed so drastically, why he didn't just say if he didn't want to see me again etc. but I guess it's obvious he's not interested so this wouldn't change things! and it would just show him I cared, which if he's not interested, I don't want him to know! But at the same time my sense of justice tells me he should be told that he's behaved badly! I REALLY don't know what to do! advice please! many thanks x

on a tree, doing nothing all day.
A rabbit saw the crow, and asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?"
The crow answered "Sure , why not."
So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested.
All of a sudden, a fox appeared, jumped on the rabbit and ate it.

Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing, you must be sitting very, very high up.
Lesson Number Two

A turkey was chatting with a bull:
"I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree," sighed the turkey,"but I haven't got the energy."
"Well, why don't you nibble on some of my droppings?" replied the bull, "They're packed with nutrients."
The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it actually gave him enough strength to reach the first branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fortnight, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon he was promptly spotted by a farmer, who shot the turkey out of the tree.

Moral of the story: Bullschitt might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.
Lesson Number Three

A little bird was flying south for the winter.
It was so cold, the bird froze and fell to the ground in a large field. While it was lying there , a cow came by and shat on it. As the freezing bird lay in the pile of cow dung, it began to realize how warm it was. The dung was actually thawing him out! He lay there warm and happy, and soon began to sing for joy. A passing cat heard him singing and came to investigate. Following the sound the cat discovered the bird under the pile of cow dung, and promptly dug him out and ate him.

Morals of this Story:
1) Not everyone who drops schitt on you is your enemy.
2) Not everyone who gets you out of schitt is your friend.
3) And when you're in deep schitt, keep your mouth shut.
Summary

An organisation is like a tree full of monkeys, all on different limbs at different levels, some climbing up and some merely fooling around.
- The monkeys at the top look down and see a tree full of smiling faces.
- The monkeys at the bottom look up and see nothing but @rseholes!!!!

I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, I am taking 40mg. of Prednisone, and 800mg. of Bactrim. I am 32 yrs. old, and a smoker trying to quit. I still have more tests to take to see if it is in my eyes and heart. I haven't worked in a year, but I guess wondering if it is possible to get a job, and what kind of job could I do. I applied for SSI and Disability for Depression a year ago, and they denied me, then I added my Sarcoidosis before they make a decision in November. So, is it possible to get a job, and still have this disease? Or is anyone that has this disease still working or not. My brother seems to think this disease is nothing and I can still work, just wanting to see if it is possible or not.

Celibacy can be a choice in life, or it can be a condition imposed by certain unintentional displays of stupidity, to wit:

While attending a marriage therapy weekend, Walter and his wife Ann listened to the instructor declare, "It is essential that husbands and wives know what is important to each other."

He addressed the men, "Can you name and describe your wife's favorite flower?"

Walter leaned over, touched Ann's arm gently and whispered, "Pillsbury All-Purpose, isn't it?"

And thus began Walter's life of celibacy.
