Why are Zeus, Hera, Aphrodite, etc all considered to be mythology, and yet the Abrahamic God is considered to be real?

What is the defining difference between the Greek/Roman Gods and the Abrahamic God?

Also, how long will it be until the Abrahamic God is written off as mythology, and will he be replaced by another "god" or other "gods"?

I want to know about the stories about the US-Mexican War 1846-1848 from both sides, American and Mexican views. I have doubts about some of the stories, ie casualties and some battle accounts that I have been reading in several books and internet resources.

Most people usually have one of two views on life, and I'm just curious as to what views most people on here have.

Some people say they "live for today", and "live every day like its their last". I agree with this way of thinking because when you really think about it, you are not guaranteed to live a long life, so you should enjoy life while you can because you are not guaranteed tommorrow.

Other people say "live for the future" and "the decisions you make now will affect you when you get old". I agree with this way of thinking too because if you are one of the lucky ones to live a long life, bad decisions can cause that long life to be a long and miserable life.

Which one of these "mottos" (or whatever you want to call it) do you live by? Do you think its more important to live everyday as if it were your last, or live to make sure you have a comfortable future?

Let's say guitar player. And let's say Europe.
I saw once two guys in the Belgrade, they were really great. So I approached them, bla, bla...and I played a little bit with them. It was such a EXPERIENCE. Exposed to a random audience. Great feeling. So I was thinking, why couldn't I make may self an adventure. I got a friend who is great guitarist, we pack, bring some money, guitars and hit the road. We could travel whole Europe, meet bunch of people, play to bunch of people, see the world. Maybe we even earn some money, because in the Serbia an average motly sallary is 200-300 $. What do you think about that kind of adventure? Would you dare?

I was watching the news, and this illegal alien who was being interviewed claimed that our immigration law was broken. She asked why would we enforce a law that we knew was broken.

I think there might be a problem in communicating to the illegals what exactly is going on here. When the law says not to do something and you do it anyway, that is something we call "breaking the law". The law was "broken" by you because you did not obey it. When we say the law has been broken, we are not claiming or even implying that there is a problem with our laws. The only problem is that you are ignoring our laws and publicly claiming it is your right to disobey our laws. THAT is the problem.

Does anyone else think part of the problem may have to do with a misunderstanding of what "breaking the law" actually means?

Our baby is going to be here in 2 weeks and she still doesn't have a name. My son really wants to name her Emily, but my cousin just named his baby that. My husband wants the middle name to be Ava. This is what I've come up with. My husband isn't sure he likes it yet though

Emma Leigh Ava

I've wondered why there are atheists on R and S for quite a while now. I mean, being an atheist basically means that you don't have a religion, right? So why bother being here?
Don't get ticked off at me because I'm asking this, and don't post any foolish answers! Thanks.

Situation: A boyfriend and girlfriend have been living together for less than one year. The two children do not belong to the boyfriend. They are the girlfriend's children. When it was time to file for '06, the boyfriend claimed both of the children (with gf's permission) on his tax form. Is this legal? Do you know anyone who has done this & then the IRS wanted the BIG refund back?? Is there a website that would say if this is legal? I searched on the IRS website but did not see anything. Thanks for your help!
