They are against Barack Obama's idea to fund programs that teach children the difference between appropriate contact with adults and inappropriate contact. Since children are easily confused, this would certainly help them defend themselves. And he's not saying it's mandatory, a parent does not have to place their kid in any program like this at their school. It's a matter of choice. He simply believes these programs are healthy and deserve funding.

What is the Republicans' problem with that? Or is this just another lame attack from an irrelevant party whose ship is sinking?

When I get these infections, I dont have the normal symptoms. The only way I know I have one, is urgency and i get anxiety. I get the lump in my throat, can't breathe feeling.. I already have a diagnosis of Panic Disorder, but am medicated for that. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this before. (My friend is a nurse and says her elderly patients experience this - UTI and Panic) but I'm 29. Just wondering what is up with that?

Ok, so I'm only 15 and I won't be voting in the 2008 presidential election, but I will be able to vote in a couple years.
I just don't understand why people vote in the presidential elections when their votes don't even count. I mean, we (as the public) don't decide who is president..the electoral college does! Do they sway their votes sometimes to match the popular vote? or do they just vote for who they want no matter who won the popular vote?
I'm just wondering if i should even bother when I'm old enough to vote for president. I'm going to vote for more local candidates because those votes actually do matter..but for president..idk. I just feel like its pointless when some other people are deciding who's gonna be president anyway.

I can buy some ice-cream, but I really don't want to use whipped cream and fudge/banana as toppings. I have used those ideas already. :) So, I need something that's quick, looks delicious and feels like I spent a lot of time on it. :) I checked online, but they kept giving me ice-cream ideas LOL

During the late 1960s sitcom producers decided to replace live audiences with canned laughter.

Debates raged for a while among psychologists and others about the long-range influence the canned laughter condition-response possibilities. Particularly for babies and children exposed to long bouts with television throughout the formative years.

The concern was that canned laughter represented an important step in the 'training' of the human brain to be trained by audio-visual inputs.

The debate died because the television medium presented the public with a fait accompli. Everything settled down to, "Earmark this for another look in a quarter-century".

But we forgot to look.

Lately it's come to my mind that maybe what I'm seeing on Yahoo QA is somehow canned laughter carried through multiple generations. The ultimate logical extreme.

I wonder whether I'm alone in my wonder?

Is all this silly do-gooder-ism fetish just the result of someone pushing mental buttons?

It seems as though Bush can do whatever he wants. He refuses (or so it seems) to give pardon to two border patrol agents who shot an illegal trying to smuggle drugs into the US. That is pathetic. This administration has lied, deceived, and destroyed the middle class. Yet the American people don't seem to care very much, pop culture - sex, celebrities, and parties is all they want. I am making a generalization, I know not all of you are like that, but it's an accurate generalization.

One last story to keep in mind. Several decades ago there was a protest in New York because some subway station raised the price by one cent. Everyone went ahead and protested there the next day.

Bush's administration has destroyed the country in every possible way, and where is the protest?
